I didn’t get any help offered with my bags, and there was no water offered in the lobby on a super hot day. (The check-in desk attendant was able to get me a cup of warm tap water but it seemed like a special request.) I had to wait 10 minutes in the lobby while housekeeping confirmed the room was ready even though I was checking in after 3pm. (And even then I found a clothes sticker on the wall from a previous guest once I got in the room.) There’s a tv by the bathtub which is cool except it only gets a couple very glitchy local TV channels. There didn’t seem to be a way to get Netflix or any streaming channels on either of the TVs. In the morning there was no breakfast as promised in the lobby because they “had no barista that day”. At the pool, the maintenance team started cleaning the pool with a machine while guests and kids were swimming in the pool without saying a word. They just had to swim around a giant extension cord and machine. Otherwise my stay was fine. The staff were generally friendly and the hotel has an old Pasadena charm to it.

A very neat and nicely decorated and furnished hotel in a convenient and central part of Pasadena. Guests should be aware though that they should ask for an electric kettle on checking in. Otherwise there are no warm or cold drinks in any shape or form available from 11:00 pm to 4:30 am. Regardless I would have no hesitation to recommend the place to friends and family.

This is one of the best stays that we’ve experienced in our travel to SoCal. Room/ washroom was very clean, very generous and kind staff and a great location for anything I wanted in terms of food options. I would highly recommend anyone with kids and family visiting LA to give this place a shot. Amazing stay!

Historic and beautiful building, great pool and poolside service. But the rooms are incredibly small and not suited for 2 adults and 2 children. The shower stall glass looks into the beds without a proper wall in between. Despite my request for a larger room with two beds the staff said they didn’t have any and that they are all the same size. Would not even recommend the double room for 2 adults, but we could not consider the king bedrooms as we were a family of 4. Better suited to singles.

This hotel was super cool, great contemporary decor & a great pool - more of a get away for couples than a family place. I loved that there were food options just a short walk away so we didn’t have to drive everywhere!

Kudos to the Pasadena Hotel and Pool photographer - the website photos are amazing, which is why we booked three nights during a recent family event. We soon discovered that the rooms are dated, stained and dirty, and poorly ventilated – muggy after a shower – and the cooling/heating system clangs periodically all night long. The maid barged into our room early the last morning with a simultaneous cry of “housekeeper”, even though we’d secured a late check out – very poor staff communication. There is no clock nor coffee-maker in the room and you can’t get coffee sent up—you must trek downstairs to stand in line to buy an overpriced cup of coffee in the lobby, something I’ve rarely encountered anywhere, and certainly never at a place with this price point. Pet peeve – there is loud, piped in music everywhere. Poolside, it’s like a carnival cruise ship gone wrong, so overbearing that one can’t hold a conversation nor read a book - the folks poolside were making fun of it. Bottom line, the location is great and the original architecture of this fine building is great - but the hotel is overrated and overpriced. Until it gets new management and a makeover, I’ll definitely not be back.

lovely, slightly quirky hotel. Pool area is beautiful. Lobby old school and charming. We had junior suite, which was a bit George Jetson/modern, and bathroom was mostly open to bedroom (toilet had frosted glass door but it did not go all the way to ceiling. Lovely big tub. When we checked in, we were not given a corner room which we had booked but after we pointed that out, they changed and upgraded our room. Nearby restaurants nice and I walked to downtown Pasadena. great value.
