Wonderful staff and they all made us feel at home at this cute, chic little property. Unfortunately the roof-top patio wasn’t open during our stay due to reduced holiday hours and when we mentioned this to the front desk, they were very accommodating with making a small adjustment to our bill. Overall a great stay, and loved that it is walking distance to the wall of fame and Chinese theatre. The area otherwise didn’t feel the most secure, as in many areas of LA there are issues with large homeless populations (not to fault the hotel, but something to be mindful of if you’re planning a family stay). Thanks for a great stay overall!

It was nice. Great for tourists wanting to see Hollywood… view of Hollywood sign from window. Close walking distance to Hollywood Boulevard and other Hollywood attractions. Be warned though, if you like lots of peace and quiet in your hotels, you may get annoyed hearing people having sex in the room next to you, or party music on the rooftop at night. The walls are quite thin. Not recommended for families or old people.

This is amazing place to stay in LA, especially if you are in your 20's early 30's. Great vibe, great rooftop and great food. Maybe my only suggestion is to bring your own shampoo, not kidding, they provide you with a shampoo that is basically a soap bar (for ecological reasons they claim).

Staff were so friendly & helpful. This is a unique place to stay, there is a bar downstairs & on the rooftop. Bit overwhelming walking in there as it was packed with patrons drinking but the vibe was great. Great location, probably a 5 minute walk to the Hollywood Blvd & the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Never had a problem with not feeling safe walking around the streets. Room was a good size, it was bright & modern. The wifi wasn't great but we made do. Only thing I would say is probably have a separate entrance for people staying at the hotel as it does get overwhelming & busy on the weekend with all the people in the bar & people going to the rooftop its hard to get to your room. Wouldn't recommend for families with kids, not really suitable. Overall, we loved it & would return to Mama, very cool place to stay.

Mamma Shelter is either a great or a terrible hotel depending entirely on what you’re looking for and why you’re staying there. Is it comfortable? No. It’s loud, there are no frills or elements of warmth or comfort. There’s no room service. There isn’t even a iron. The food is sub par and it’s a pain to have to prove you’re a guest and not a bar patron just to get to your room. But, if you’re staying in Hollywood cause you’re there to party, you’re young and the notion of being in your room to relax is foreign (I was once like that, too!) then it’s just fine. In fact, all the reasons I think this place is utterly terrible, may very well sound like selling points to you. In which case, enjoy, kiddo.
