Thompson Hollywood

The Thompson is an interesting hotel. Parts of it merit a 4-star rating (the excellent service and rooftop breakfast spot and pool) while others fall more into the 2-3 star range. Not a great neighborhood especially for families and I also encountered some interesting "characters" (use your imagination) in the lobby and by the club next door, and I feel like the lobby could use a facelift. The lobby bar isn't always attended (i waited 5 minutes to order a drink at 6:30PM and no one showed up) and when i ordered a sundae it arrived melted, too small for its price and without a spoon. With this said, I want to commend the Manager, David, who is absolutely fantastic and an expert in customer management. He helped me out of a tough situation and for this reason I will definitely return to the Thompson.

Terrible stay at the Thompson Hollywood. The condition and design of the property itself was pretty good, however it's clear that Guests Comfort isn't their priority. Noise from the rooftop bar parties, and in-house restaurant Mes Amis resonated through the rooms well in 2-3am each night. If you're travelling with children, don't bother if you expect to be sleeping at all. We stayed 4N and were unable to get adequate uninterrupted sleep the entire trip. Hotel staff were understanding and accommodating, however, despite a mid stay room change, the difference between rooms on different floors/area of the hotel made little difference.

Hotel facilities and room look as new and well maintained. Almost impossible self-park options, only Valet parking at 60usd (inc tax). Valet parking staff very efficient and friendly. Some reviewers claimed they had noise at night from the roof and adjacent bars, we did not hear them. Did not interrupt our sleep (a family trip of 4). No buffet breakfast, only menu, on roof restaurant. Very friendly staff. Breakfast is not for small children. The room facilities are very good. Overall, our stay was excellent.

Cute chic and nice hotel, I definitely enjoyed my stay here. Their roof top pool area is so relaxing, I stayed in the 7th floor and it was nice and quite. Beds were really comfortable, I would definitely recommend staying here even with kids we very much enjoyed our time here.

The hotel was located 5 walking minutes fron the Hollywood Walk of Fame, therefore well located. The least enjoyable part, being with young kids was the loud music on the roof of the surrounding hotels until 2AM. If you plan to go there to party, then this is perfect, but if you want to rest, chose another hotel.

After a long day at Universal we came back at 10:30 only to find a large black chest in our room that did not belong to us. After calling downstairs and waiting for security to come ten minutes later they said it must be human error and took the chest away, explaining that someone must have entered our room and left an old refrigerator there. With no other explanation they took it and left. Management ignored all my messages following this incident and pretended it didn’t happen during checkout. Another incident involved 10 police officers guns drawn detaining a man outside the entrance. Definitely not a family friendly hotel. Be warned management is not friendly or helpful. Requests for complimentary toiletries were ignored even after they confirmed the request. Housekeeping doesn’t replenish consumables either. Daily water for a family of 3 is 2 small bottles. Highly do not recommend. On a side note the restaurant staff at the rooftop pool are stellar.
