Placervile is a historic town and will be relished by history buffs . We came here to visit family and participate in a golf tournament at Cold Springs Golf Course. We stayed 2 nights at the Cary House which is perfectly located in downtown Placerville and has numerous restaurants, pubs and wine shops. If you come for shopping you won't be disappointed. Love the Cary House and.
and ALL it has to offer.

My family and I spent our weekend at Placerville and stayed at the Cary House, we had a wonderful time! The staff was friendly and our rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed looking at all the historic artifacts they have at the hotel.

Blinds in the room were missing the cord to pull them up.
One blind was stuck half way down and needed the window blocked with a sofa cushion for privacy. Bathtub was missing non-skid surface, somewhat dangerous.
Coffee pot was missing from the coffee maker. When the Placerville bars close it's a little noisy around 1 - 2am.
Some lights missing in parking area behind the building.

Wonderful stay because of the location. However, room Superior King Suite is advertised as sleeps 4. It sleeps two and you can request rollaway twin spring beds. Disappointing as it cramped the space as we had 3 adults and 1 kid... The only dampener on our 2 day get away.

Though it was comfortable and clean, some parents do not know how to keep their children under control. At approximately 6:15 am, they felt it was appropriate to allow their children to run up and down the hallway in this old hotel. You could hear every pounding foot step and yelling, these parents have zero respect for anyone and allow these kids to be as disrespectful as they were.

Amazing Hotel with a rich history and very close to everything downtown. My kids and I really enjoyed reading about the history, staying in the spacious room, and using the old elevator.

Every room is different, bringing a kind of anticipatory joy to the experience. I’ve stayed here regularly while transitioning from the Bay Area to a new job in Placerville. It’s old, interesting, comfortable, and has an eerily fun vibe. Maybe not for everyone, but a great fit for me. And, given the range of folks I’ve encountered here, from families to tourists to those who look like they’re in the area for business, the appeal is broad.

The shower water temp knob was broken. I told the front desk at 8:00 AM on my way out for the day. When I returned at 3:00 PM, I asked if it was fixed and was told it was looked at. Yes, but was it fixed? I got the night front desk person to go up and look at it. The problem is that if you tried to make the water just a little warmer it would get colder because the stop was broken and the knob would just turn and turn. He said it gets warm. I told him, yes but I want a hot shower. I told him that he had seven hours to take care of this. Then the threats started, he told me that he would put me on the do not rent to list. So I told him okay, I would put a bad review on yelp. Then the next threat came, if you don't change your attitude I'll put you out of the hotel. Just think, if a kid turned the knob to make it colder, it would go to HOT.

This is my second time staying at the Cary House and my family and I really enjoy it. The rooms are a little small, but what do you expect because of the age and size. It's always a great experience and a ton of history. I really enjoy the little shops and restaurants by the Cary House even though some of them are WAY overpriced. It's still fun to window shop and check out all the cool antiques.
