DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro

Lovely hotel. Pool needs updating but I believe this is already planned for September. Room was lovely but the small sofa bed was too small for a 7 and 10 year old to share as it was just wider than a single. Service at the restaurant and bar were great, the children loved the welcome cookies on arrival.

On arrival discovered no bedding for sofa bed for child plus no towels. When sofa bed is down you cannot get to window or desk as too big for room. Charged us for food at bar when we had the dinner package and now have to wait for weeks for a refund. Had to repeat myself to several staff members in order to resolve [or rather leave trusting it was resolved]. Took 45 minutes at a quiet late time to get a cheese sandwich. Property in general is beautiful and breakfast was delicious.

Enjoyable stay for a family trip to the safari park. Common areas of the hotel were very plush. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but this was excellent, with service to match. Family + room was comfortable and clean. Possibly not as big as I expected (given the plus rating / price) but the kids slept fine on the sofa bed (age 5&9 - older kids may struggle). Main bed was large and very comfy. Bathroom a good size, shower pressure could have been slightly higher but plenty of hot water. We enjoyed the pool for a couple of swims. Wasn’t too busy (always has half for lap swimming) and warm air and water. Overall facilities could do with a lick of paint but the staff were all very welcoming. Overall would revisit if price was ok

Hotel was nice just very disappointing that we had no water from 4 on Hogmanay until 2 in the morning It’s the first time after travelling all day I have not been able to have a shower and wash my hair , and had to go out for Hogmanay feeling not great !!!! Also no one yet apologised for the fact there was no water and not even mentioned when we checked out So very disappointing really My daughter was also put in a small room with her baby toddler and next door to someone with barking dogs everytime anyone walked past which wakened the baby

I booked a junior suite 6 months prior to my visit for a wedding. I rechecked with three weeks to go and confirmed my reservation. Three days before my arrival I was told that there was no junior suite available and that I could have a double plus room at a reduced rate. When I told them my story and that it was their error I didn’t expect to be downgraded but upgraded. I was asked wether I wanted the room. It was the jubilee weekend and I said yes as they had me over a barrel the lady said no you could go elsewhere. I have stayed in many hotels around the world and never encountered such an attitude. When we did arrive the room we were given was tired. In the plus side the staff were pleasant. Won’t be staying again

We were looking forward to our family break, but were sadly quite disappointed. We were at the back of the hotel and the carpets looked like they needed a good clean, the bedding in our room was ripped, the paint was peeling off the doors, and generally the rooms were quite dilapidated. The food and service were very good.

Our stay was good overall. The two things that I would have changed was the child’s bed was not very good and not very practical for it’s purpose. The other thing everything you purchased seam to be over priced which is a bit unfair due to the lack or distance to a restaurant or a bar for options.

We booked because it was near to family. Staff were friendly and efficient. Pool was not too crowded and area was clean.

Stayed for a family wedding! We had a fantastic weekend! Staff were all very nice and helpful. Room was nice. Breakfasts were excellent each day and the wedding all went perfectly :)
