Having stayed at the Midland many times under its previous ownership, we were delighted to find that the experience not only met our expectations but in fact exceeded them for our family party of 5. Bedrooms, facilities and excellent staff as always ensured that we will continue to make the Midland our hotel of choice when visiting Manchester!

Absolutely wonderful stay. A beautiful hotel where my children arrived in the room to some sweet treats and cards from the hotel to mark their birthday. Delicious cocktails from the bar. Loved the huge room and lovely Elemis products in the bathroom. The breakfast was 10/10. We cannot wait to stay again!

Really enjoyable stay with comfortable bed and brilliant family friendly pool. The location was great to explore the city and do a spot of shoping a bite to eat and well licated for the theatres.

Reception was most helpful.
For our check-in, they made the effort to ensure our rooms were next to each other without compromising our comfort. (We had asked ahead for connecting rooms). When booking a car for 6 of us (grandparents of over 80yrs, two children and two adults plus several suitcases), they made sure the transport arrived and called for us. Making our transit so much easier. This hotel had concierge. They had trolleys to help us with our bags and it was most discreetly covered too. Felt really safe here. Historic hotel- meeting place for the founding of rolls-Royce. Dad was very happy to be here.

Incredibly RUDE and untrained night staff. They cause a serious if mistakes during our stay that made it almost unbearable.
NO is the first word out of their mouth. Not “let me see” or “I’ll ask”.
Our chair in our room was broken my daughter sat down and hit her head on a glass table.
Housekeeping is terrible, they don’t change your sheets when they finally decide to clean your room. I had the Midland Suite and a connecting room. Noise level was unbearable woke both kids up all Friday and sat, well most nights.
The floors are so loud when you walk they wake up your wife and kids when going to the bathroom.
Rooms service closes 30mins earlier then they state on the menu. The laziness of staff was due to no tips and underpayment was apparent in their attitude and performance. I will never stay here again.
They have your card on your room but make you pay for every room service order, every meal at the hotel, every drink and to extend your stay they make you come down and swipe your card again. This is just poor training and is not required. I own hotels.

Booked a junior suite and was very disappointed with its facilities.
1. Poor lighting in the living room due to only having one light, it became rather dark during the evening.
2. No bath, only a shower
3. The towel rail fell off and had to be fixed back on by staff.
4. Only 4 clothes hangers and a small wardrobe.
Housekeeping didn't service my room during the stay.
I had to ask for replacement coffee and water.
Check-In poor. I was told that I didn't need to give a credit card or pay the suite upgrade on Check-In. At 9pm on the 2nd day, reception called me to ask to pay the upgrade. Poor communication between Reception staff.
Spa. Jacuzzi out of order. Wasn't told this when I booked a spa day.
Bar. Slow service.
However, Breakfast was nice.
In a summary; poor attention to detail. No wow factor.
If the hotel management reads this; Would I return? No. The nearby Clocktower Hotel is much nicer.

Hotel is impressive to look at even though there was refurb work going in on. We stayed in the Midland suite which is the hotel’s largest and was, again, impressive. However, it’s in the service that the hotel let’s itself down. We’d booked for 3 including a child but the suite was set up with just one double bed. When I rang down to reception they confirmed they had a booking for 3 but told me I was at fault for not ringing ahead and requesting an extra bed for a child. House keeping turned up without a mask or PPE and set up the extra bed. This is ironic as when we rang for room service we were told that the menu was dramatically reduced and we’d have to come to reception to collect it “because COVID”. Likewise the breakfast arrangements were a stale croissant and some other continental bits left outside the door in a paper bag of the sort you’d get on a commuter train. Only two paper cups in the room for 3 people. Thoughtless and about the standard of a travelodge.
COVID presents challenges but that doesn’t mean service should go out of the window. A week earlier we stayed at a Rocco Forte hotel and had an amazing experience. The manager of the Midland should book themselves into a RF hotel and experience just how good service can be despite a pandemic.

Lovely hotel. We were aware of construction work but wasnt noisy. Only disappointment was checking in at 15.40 and rooms not ready! Also we booked 2 rooms as a family of 4 (with older children) and rooms not near each other or on the same floor.
Bar staff attentive but not intrusive and rooms lovely, and immaculately clean.
