La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St Martin

Beach front room with patio was the high point of our stay- we opened up the screened windows and door and listened to the waves roll in all night. Romantic and beautiful! Service was inconsistent- 1 example: after waiting for our lunch to be served for 1 1/2 hours, we realized that it wasn't just slow- they had forgotten us. While the pools are open until 10:30 pm, the attendant covers all the lounge chairs, closes the umbrellas, and takes away the towels at around 5:30 pm. Beach erosion causes a sharp 9-10' sand bank down to the water. To swim, you can slide down the bank but getting back up is very difficult- not good for small children, handicapped, pregnant women, or average me. There is only 1 restaurant serving dinner. The menu is very limited with over-the-top prices, delicious and well prepared, however. Think twice if you are feeding teens!

We stayed here for three nights for a short honeymoon. I love luxury resorts, but this one was a little too quiet for us (except the screaming children). Most of the clients were older, or families with young children. The service was extremely slow. The food was below average. But the views were beautiful, and the resort was really pretty. Richard and Nicholas were awesome down at the beach:) Communication with scheduling prior to arrival was pretty bad also:/

I have never been the type (NOT saying its right) to take the time to write testimonials or post reviews. However having lectured on customer service in my former career and based on my recent stay with my wife to the wonderful LaSamanna resort I have to take a minute to provide you with feedback. My wife and I have been fortunate (after many years of hard work) to have traveled all over the world and stay at some of the beautiful hotels/resorts. However I have to tell you that our recent stay at the LaSamanna has to rank in the top spot. Obviously it's in the most beautiful destination in the Caribbean and on the best beach in St. Martin but more and most importantly your people running this resort are second to none. Not sure how much world class training you are doing or what methods but whatever it is Don't stop. What a bunch of wonderful and professional people. Romel (@ the beach Bar) (Leo II - everywhere Ha! - Katlyn @ reception ) Emmanuel, Anis, and SO ON, I can't believe how everyone is so ready to drop everything they are doing to satisfy your guests every need. Well, I could go on but I have to run. One thing for sure. We will be back and be bringing friends and family to experience the LaSamanna!
