The Hotel Vogar was a great family own and run hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. You must have a have a car; unless that you are going to take a taxi to the hotel from the airport for one night. We based out of the Hotel Vogar for one week and we were very pleased. The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and we had plenty of space for our luggage. The town of Vogar does not have a restaurant or market. There are plenty of walking or running options in Vogar. However, there are many markets and restaurants in Keflavik which is only a 10 minute drive from the hotel. There is a COSTCO in Reykjavik, which has the cheapest gasoline in Iceland and it is a 20 minute drive. The COSTCO is generally on the route to any of the tourist destinations--bring your COSTCO card. We would recommend the Hotel Vogar and if we are vacationing in southern Iceland, we would stay there again
