Sand Hotel by Keahotels

We enjoyed our 5 night stay in a junior suite. The accommodations were excellent and the staff were great from the early check in for our room to the daily service. The breakfast is good and there is plenty to choose. The location of the hotel along a major pedestrian and shopping street is also a great bonus. Easy walk to the downtown area and major attractions in the city.

I had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were elegant, comfortable and cozy. The breakfast buffet each morning was fabulous with lots to choose from, including smoked salmon, local cheese and fresh bread made at the bakery next door. I was able to book a Golden Circle Tour and a day at the Sky Lagoon at the front desk, a very convenient service. For the Golden Circle Tour, the front desk staff recommended a small tour company with small vans. The tour company guide was a local young man with lots of interesting stories about Iceland from a local guy's point of view. He took us to 2 family farms in which he knew the owners. On a dairy farm, we had ice cream which was made on site with cream from their own cows. On another farm, we were able to spend time with Icelandic horses, able to pet them and take photos. These were unique experiences not available on the tours in large busses. We also toured the Tomato Farm and had a very delicious lunch in which the farm's tomatoes were featured. Delicious. The Sand Hotel is in a great location, smack in the middle of the old town shopping street. Shops and restaurants abound in this area and it's just a short walk to great food. Also, it's just a 5 minute walk to the Hallgrimskirkja, the amazingly designed church towering over the city. All in all, my stay at the Sand was delightful and I highly recommend it.

An excellent location. Absolutely perfect can walk to most places if wanted to be in the town. So close to harbour and shops. Hotel is lovely very happy. Beds comfy super clean. Cleaning staff all so happy and say hello . Breakfast great to plenty of healthy choices. Also option for gluten free bread which I was so happy with. I will return to this hotel with my family
