Nice Hotel for staying a night in San José.
- clean and nice rooms
- good variety of breakfast
- Car is needed
- playground for kids available
- Restaurant in the Hotel was closed on Sunday, but there was a very good&cool food market near by (Mercado La Cartonera)

I’d recommend to look for another hotel instead. I got it offered as a VIP boutique property, but there is a lot to be desired.
Hotel building is after restaurant on property, so we feel safe. It was a hotel choice to stay one night before a morning flight, so the surrounding area wasn’t explored.
The room was very dated with switches from the 80s! The bathroom was modern though, but we had no hot water in the morning. The friendly staff offered to send someone to check the water or switch room at 7:30 in the morning, but rather had the cold shower due to timing before the flight.
The bed was hard. Inside linens in one of the beds made us think twice. We didn’t use it, and had our toddler in our bed.
The premium steak cuts at the restaurant are not on par with U.S. meats.

Restaurant is family owned and authentic. Property was close to airport and had great security. Rooms were basic and bathrooms had bad smell.

This was an excellent spot to start and end our trip to Costa Rica. The included breakfast is fantastic. There’s a playground and nice spots to gather outside (we had an outdoor picnic on one of the balconies), and even though it’s close to the city it still feels secluded and private. The kids had fun in the pool even though the water was very cold. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were tidy and comfortable.

This is a nice hotel, not too far from the airport (our taxi from the airport cost ~$13) with two swimming pools (one medium sized, one kiddie pool). It was clean, the hotel staff were very friendly, and the free breakfast was great. The small playground was a nice addition for the kids.

We spent one night in this hotel as we were headed for an early flight the next morning. The hotel must have been a very good one when it was new but it seemed very tired when we visited. The pool seemed dirty and the rooms smelled. The bathroom didn't seem clean and it smelled when the door was opened. When we got in the room they said they wanted to charge us $20 for each of our 2 kids. When we told them that none of us would eat breakfast as we were leaving for the airport they didn't push more.

El Rodeo was a wonderful discovery for my wife and I as we were visiting Costa Rica. It was the perfect hotel for us to spend a relaxing and pleasant day before traveling home to the states. I'm old. There's noting wrong with me. El Rodeo is an older property and there's nothing wrong with it. The staff have paid attention to updating and keeping the hotel current, clean, and pleasant. There were a few families visiting that took advantage of the pool table and football tables, but they should. That being said, our room was directly across from those games. Around 9PM the noise subsided and all was quiet at this quaint hotel. If you get a chance go to the restaurant for a tasty meal. I had the Tejano Fajitas. Being from Texas I've never tasted any fajitas like these. My wife and I enjoyed every bite. Then we shared the apple pie a la mode. Get it!

We stayed here for one night before departure. Upon arrival hotel staff wasn't that friendly in telling us about the facilities offered and there was no information in the room. Room itself was nice and comfortable. However walls are thin and we were awoken by the sound of kids running in the room above us. Nice, but expensive, restaurant on site for lunch or dinner. Wifi was okay but not great in room.

Overall the place is beautiful, clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are big, But unfortunately you hear everything. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. I heard a baby crying in another room, I heard people every time they walked by and even when they were in another location. My boys did not hear a thing! They are heavy sleepers. The water in the pool is too cold for swimming and the breakfast is fine for your average eater but not teenage boys for anybody with a bigger appetite. So for $14, which is the cost of the breakfast, you can probably find a better deal elsewhere. There are many options so I don't think we will be staying here again.

We stayed twice, at beginning and end of trip and really appreciated the facilities with small kids. Nice play ground, tennis courts, gated and safe. However, our bathroom, shower and area around the pool were encredibly slippery when wet. Other than having to be extremely careful on the tile floors, we enjoyed our stay. I would return, And hope they add some no slip features before I do :)
