Toilets that don't flush properly. I got a suite and the AC is on the room that is not even where the beds are!!!! They offered me a fan.....i didn't want a fan but proper AC and a proper toilet that flushes. 3 days of this with my family of 4 was hard to take in. Let alone having to pay $32 per day for parking......never again. The area of the hitel.is right accross the social service homeless and bums, drug addicts roaming around everywhere.

Stayed on the last day of the Grand Prix (but not for the Grand Prix) so prices were 4x the usual. If it wasn’t for the exorbitant hotel prices everywhere due to the event, we wouldn’t likely have chosen this hotel. That said, it is wasn’t the worse option and there were solid pros and cons. We travelled with two young children and stayed 2 nights.
Pros: location is good, especially since we travelled by train. It is walking distance to many attractions. Staff and management were kind and welcoming. Check in and out were smooth. Seems like the rooms were pretty sound proof, at least ours was. We stayed in a room on the 10th floor right next to the elevators and barely heard others. Room layout was actually pretty nice too. There was a separate room with a couch, desk and TV. We didn’t really use the kitchen other than the fridge. It is close to IGA so it’s convenient for groceries.
Cons: hotel is really old and maybe because of that, it didn’t seem very clean. The bathtub actually looked so bleh that we didn’t use it, even the towels seemed really old. If you’re not high maintenance like us, then it won’t bother you. What bothered us the most was the smell. As soon as we entered, there was a strong smell as if someone had just cooked in the kitchen. That definitely gave off a vibe of not so clean. Later in the evening, smells of cigarettes and burning plastic. Not sure where they were coming from but it definitely ruined the first night. The second night was better.

The staffs at front desk are very helpful and great. But I was surprised that they are charging my 8lb fur baby $60. I double /triple check their site… it didn’t say there that there’s a fee for pet to stay. I will appreciate it if it states that there is a fee. So far it’s ok. Room is nice and clean .

I booked two rooms for the Labour Day weekend for a night on Sunday.
I got a free upgrade for the two rooms, and the receptionist was able to put us on the same floors.
It felt pretty safe as you need to swipe your card to enter the lobby, get on the elevator and into your room. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and complete with utensils for cooking.
The hotel itself was approximately 15 mins wall to Notre Dame Basilica and about 10 mins walk to old Montreal.
I’d come back to stay, and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Safe, convenient and easily accessible (walkable distance) to the city center. Good for families with more than one kid.

the location was relatively good for walking distance to old Montreal. However it was skirting the skid row part of town, I went looking for coffee the first morning and was put off by the overwhelming presence of street people, street after street around the hotel and the aroma of urine, and garbage everywhere. The hotel is not as represented at all, the rooms are very dark (cave like) VERY run down; The elevator we used always had these huge bins clogging up the entry/exit for the elevators, like it was a service elevator, the card reader didn't work in it either so anyone could use it, if they gained entry. The entire hotel floor reeked of cigarette smell, I could smell cigarette smoke coming from somewhere one morning. You get what you pay for I guess. On a positive note the staff where wonderful. And we did a lot of sight seeing because we didn't want to be in our room, at all. The beds were okay. I wouldn't stay there again though. Happy Travelling :)

It was great to have a fully functional kitchen, although the placement of the shelves and access to the fridge was a little awkward, the price and location for a traveling family was unbeatable. I would highly recommend Hotel Saint-Laurent if you are traveling on a budget and want to make the most of Montreal on foot.
