Hampton Inn by Hilton Halifax Downtown

Hotel staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful, which we appreciated greatly traveling with a young kid. Breakfast was great, the rooms were clean, and the location is great (close to downtown).

Too noisy, too many kids

This is our fourth stay here, but first time bringing our kids. We always have a great experience. Everything is clean, quiet and comfortable!!

Room was not clean. Found puke on the carpet and blood on the bed covers. Manager never came to apologies or check the room. Took half an hour for someone to come check the room while I was waiting to put the kids to bed. I had to ask to change room (no one offered). I will never stay there again.

I got a nice corner room. Convenient location (I am visiting family and this hotel is only a few minute away - walking distance). Breakfast was only OK (COVID precautions I suspect have impacted this).

We asked for adjoining rooms with a crib early in reservation. They responded that they may not be able to accommodate several times even though I pleaded that we were traveling with toddlers and still they didn’t provide this until I got a bit upset. While checking in the attendant that wasn’t dealing with me was looking over at me and rolling her eyes. The paknplay they brought was broken. We tried several times to call for room service, seldom answered the phone.we had to ask for towels at the pool. The door to the pool stuck too We asked to have the garbage emptied (4 day stay) and they never did it! Shampoo etc was awful. Elevators inadequate for as many floors as it has In summary the building itself was possible but the service was the worst!

Would rate at 3.5 ⭐️ Comfortable room. Needs some updating. Average for cleanliness. Busy elevators- took stairs. Did not use pool can’t comment. Busy front desk. Not enough seating for breakfast- eggs/sausages/ coffee flavour sub par. No ‘kid’ cereal option, nor yogurts. Had apples/oranges. Easy walking to many dining/shopping/harbour sights!

Superb location close to boardwalk and many dining options downtown. Breakfast was decent and filling. However, I had to ask three times for the front desk to bring us fresh towels one day, and we didn’t get them until after my children had gone to bed (my first request was at 9 am).

I cannot say enough about the front desk agent who helped me check in and then 20 minutes later, helped me check out with a full refund. He was understanding and apologetic for an issue that was not his fault. The parking lot was sold out when I checked in. So we went looking for other parking options in the area ipon the advice of staff, and there was nothing that could accommodate the size of our vehicle. There was also a hockey tournament happening, so there were no hotel rooms in Halifax at all. I was not about to leave our vehicle further away, plus we have three little kids so cabbing with luggage and carseats would have been very inconvenient at best. Our stay was partly for my daughter's birthday party, so to have to drive back home and tell excited children that we were not staying overnight in Halifax was also disappointing. The parkade being sold out is a stupid problem and luckily we could go home that night, but what if an out of province guest has the same issue, with the entire city being sold out of rooms.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was just as we hoped - lots to choose from! Room was comfy and clean. Pool was perfect for my two little ones.
