Splendid Star Grand Hotel & Spa

The hotel staff were fabulous. They were friendly, kind, loved our kids, and helpful! The hotel was in a wonderful location and it was so easy to navigate.

Only plus we found with the hotel was the location and at check in, the people were pleasant and friendly. Photos are a complete misrepresentation, and falsely advertised grandeur. Instead of getting three rooms with balconies, and nice furniture (as the photos show), we got for all three rooms we booked be would be equivalent to probably a hostel - toilet in the shower, one pillow per person and dirty. No views- all three rooms looked into another buildings l. A dark staircase, that at the time of our arrival was blocked by a mattress so therefore posing a huge fire risk. Wi-Fi only worked per floor inconvenient when going up and down between three rooms as we were a family. As there is only two rooms per floor. Plus the room locking system was out of date and in one of the rooms didn’t work properly (although with brute force it did eventually lock). When we inquired as to where the room we had booked was they said they only had one of that room and it was fully booked. We asked for a refund on the means of falsely advertised we were told no and refused by the manager. The said if we stayed for 24hrs they would “upgrade" to better rooms. But we just walked without refund out as it wasn’t worth ruining an excellent holiday, with a run down, potentially unsafe, old building.This hotel needs some real care and upgrades to to be worth even close to the money we paid. Completely disappointed by this hotel as we paid good money for it, only to find it was a scam.

The Splendid Star Grand Hotel was wonderful. Positives- staff work hard to make your experience the best (including arranging tours if you want), room was very spacious and comfortable (we were on 6th floor with patio and the space was fantastic), air conditioning was great (very well needed in June when we were there), continental breakfast was good, location is fantastic to get to lake where night markets happen, the water puppet show is, and there are many stores and shops around. Things to note- there is an elevator but not all the way to the street- about 12 stairs to get to it. Taxi has to park a block or two away as entrance in alley where cars cannot go, church is close so bells ring regularly. All are matters the hotel cannot control though. So everything they can control is well done. Also note Au Lac family restaurant is close and it’s great food with nice staff and good prices. So if you do stay here I would recommend!

Having booked in late on a Saturday night, after original hotel was cancelled, we were warmly welcomed and extremely grateful to be upgraded to bigger family room. The staff were so friendly and helpful and this made the stay extremely satisfying. The room and hotel was great but the courtesy and friendliness of the staff was one of the best I have ever experienced. Would highly recommend.

My family and I had an amazing time here! The hotel is close to multiple tourist spots in the Old Quarter and even though it is not accessible to cars given the road infrastructure, it is quite an easily located hotel. And the breakfast… yummm! Highly recommend this place!

We made a last minute booking with this hotel as the one we had booked with was far from our expectations. Fortunately we were able to secure a family suite at this hotel and were able to move straight in. Not only were we more than satisfied with the location and accomodation, the staff were extremely helpful and polite and even had the room ready for us prior to check in. I rate the hotel and staff very highly and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Hanoi.

My rating will not be accurate as we stayed at 2 different rooms with 2 different ratings. We didn’t like our first room being at 5th floor with no elevator at Splendid Pearlight Hotel. Overall the room was not comfy to stay- everything is just not right. We requested to another room. They offered us another room at Splendid Boutique ( the building to check-in) however we decided to stay at the same Splendid Pearlight, at 2nd floor. The 2nd room condition was much better, same size as the first room. Have better bed sheets and much nicer blanket/comforter. The bathroom condition was better (except some moldy ceiling above shower head). We were confused why we ended up to stay at Splendid Pearlight or offered to stay at Splendid Boutique wherein we booked at Splendid Star Hotel. There are 4 Hotels with 4 different names (3 together and 1 across the street. If there is a change to my reservation, I think we should be informed or an explanation would be very helpful so that we wouldn’t be spending our energy to this matter. I asked why we stayed at a different Hotel to the front desk and I got no answer. The breakfast was great. More Asian choices with noodle soup made to order. The location is at the small street with no cars in and out allowed so it’s a quite street. Walking distance to the Church and lots of small family owned dinings.

I also found many hotels for my trip in Hanoi, many are expensive and many are cheap. Splendid Star 2 hotel is very cheap, it is suitable for me. I stayed for 2 nights in family room, the room has free wifi computer and my son loved it very much because it very stable. Also my room has window to see outside. Helpful staff, thank for all
