Cobblestone Hotel and Suites Torrington

Be very careful here. There are notices regarding pet fees and a $1.75 per night charge to use the in-room safe. I didn’t have a pet with me and told them I wouldn’t use the safe. The room had a piece of dog food on the floor but we weren’t too worried about it. This is Torrington so you need to accept some stuff. We also discovered there were some dishes left in the dishwasher. Understandable that the cleaning crew missed it. The pool was closed. The first two days a baseball team was staying there so I assumed they just didn’t want to deal with a bunch of kids in the pool. Although they did change the “Pool Closed” signs, it remained closed 5 days. All tolerable if not ideal. We didn’t want to get anyone in trouble so we rolled with it. Until checkout. We checked out a little before 7 am to get to our flight in Denver. The guy working the desk said I could get my receipt from Expedia which was fine since I booked and paid online. 20 minutes later, I got notice of a $135 charge to my card. I called the next day and was told it was a pet fee. I told the manager I had no pet. Her response was that there was dog food all over which was proof I had a pet. When informed that it was already there, she said that I was lying because anybody would complain if there was dog food in the room. After a heated discussion, she said she would reverse the charge but didn’t. How could they know there was dog food so early after checkout unless they left it on purpose to charge the fee?
