We booked this hotel specifically for the pool and spa tub advertised as we were on a long road trip and needed a place where the kids could “get their wiggles out”. When we arrived not only did they not have a hot tub, the pool was closed because reportedly they didn’t have licensure for it. I feel like we just paid for amenities they didn’t have and would’ve stayed elsewhere had I known. At the very least we should’ve been offered a discount.

Pool was closed. That was one of the main reasons that we selected this hotel. We had an 8 hour drive to get here and the kids needed to unwind.

We enjoyed our time at the Ripley Holiday Inn. The breakfast was excellent. The only things of mention was the shower in the morning wasn't hot-hot. The water stayed lukewarm and the shower drain was a little slow. Also the hotel did not have any drinks for vending. The cooler they had just had some off brand drinks and juices. Not much variety. I notified the staff of the shower water and drain at check out. Outside those items it was super clean and the kids enjoyed the pool.

We stayed here after packing up and moving my friend's family of 5. We were all very tired from heavy lifting and loading and a long day of travel. We chose this hotel based on amenities listed on hotels.com - mainly the pool and hot tub. We were ready to relax! The hotel was very clean and our beds (even the pull out sofa) were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure in the shower was amazing - it felt like a massage! The breakfast choices included a variety of hot and cold which made the 3 kiddos very happy! We were disappointed though that the pool was out of service and they must have removed the hot tub during a renovation and never removed the amenity listed - because there was no hot tub to be seen. Over all, I would definitely stay here again, as long as I didn't need a hot tub, and I would call ahead to verify whether or not the pool was in service.

My bathroom was dirty. There was dirt on the countertop and sink. The pool was green. At midnight, a family came in with a screaming child in the room next to mine. This child screamed continuously for an hour.

I grew up in the area and still have family there so I visit there a few times a year and I have stayed in most of the hotels in the area over the years. This one is by far the best in Jackson county WV and the only one that I chose now.

My family had to stay the night here so we could attend a funeral the next day in Spencer. We had a suite that could sleep 6 people. When we got in the room, there were only 2 towels, the phone didn't work and there was no bedding for the pull out sofa. We listened to a child run around banging on the floors and walls until about 2 am. The following morning we went down for the free breakfast and the biscuits were not finished in the middle. They were running out of everything, gravy was not warm and the trash cans were overflowing. Yes, it served it's purpose but it definitely could have been better for $200 for one night.

We happened to get a room on one of the newly remodeled floors, which was just a pleasant surprise after 9 hours of travel. The entire facility was clean and the breakfast offerings were great for our family of five. We peeked in at the pool and the kids weren't enticed enough to want to swim; it appeared dark and dingy.

Traveling for work and we were placed next to a family with 2 or 3 young kids...nothing against them but needed a quieter room. Called the front desk and they immediately moved us to another room with no hassle. Thank you!

My family and I needed a comfortable, clean place to stay overnight on our drive from S.C. to Michigan.- This Holiday Inn was a pleasant surprise compared to some others. They had done a lot of updates and renovations to the hotel and it felt/appeared quite clean. The room was very nice and new, beds were comfy. If we were there longer, I'm sure we would have taken the kids down to the pool. The continental breakfast had warm cinnamon rolls and decent coffee! :D There appeared to still be some on going renovations, however nothing compromised our stay. I hope they continue to keep it fresh and welcoming- We would consider this location again as needed in our travels.
