Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The furniture and carpeting is worn and outdated. The bedding is clean, beds are comfortable. The bathroom had quite a bit of mold, and I scrubbed it. Rooms are spacious and good for families.

The Griffin is our favorite hotel in Williamsburg. The suite style rooms are perfect for our family, including our two little pups. We enjoy walking around the lovely grounds.

The room was dirty when we arrived at 6:00pm so we had to wait a few hours for cleaning. When we came back, we were locked out so a bellman had to come and change our keys. (He was lovely).
The very cordial staff tried to make up for the inconvenience with a $100 credit for breakfast, which was nice, but the restaurant couldn’t take us for 20-30 minutes so we went to the lodge for buffet because at that point we couldn’t order a la carte. The credit didn’t cover a buffet for our family of four, so I ended up paying $71 extra for the room. I had prepaid the room charge. While the staff was lovely, apologetic, and as helpful as possible, the hotel seems to be very mismanaged and in dire need of an overhaul. Very disappointing because we love the area.

The staff really made every effort to make our stay as a family enjoyable and easy. From helping with birthday celebrations to daily excursions in the area, our family with young kids had the best vacation. We can't wait for our next visit!

The Griffin is conveniently located in Colonial Williamsburg and provided comfortable beds. However, we did not realize there are no elevators and luggage had to be carried up two flights of stairs! The hot water faucet in the bathroom sink was installed backwards and was very loose and the towel bar on the towel rack was also in need of repair. In addition, the Mid-Atlantic Conference of the Society of Arboriculture was hosting tree-climbing competitions on the grounds of the hotel and adjacent to it and frequently there were adults and children in the roadway leading to our hotel wing. We were pleased with our housekeeper, who tended to our room each day of our three-night
stay, but we would not stay at the Griffin again.

The room was large and comfortable for our family of four. I wish it had had a microwave, and there were some areas in need of updating. But the bed, shower, and furniture were all comfortable. The patio was lovely.

This place should cost $99 a night. You have to check in at a nice hotel next door. Then you drive one block over to a building that looks like it was an executive meeting center from the 70's. There is no lobby. The room was dated. Some parts of the room were dirty. (see pictures) Their is wifi in the room, but it not the hotels. It is Colonial Williamsburgs' wifi. When we arrived, after the official check-in tme, and after receiving our key, there was a cleaning woman standing in our room with a bucket and a cell phone to her ear. She asked if I could come back. I told her that my wife, two kids, and a dog were coming down the hall. She then asked again if I could come back. Yes, you read that correctly. The only reason to stay here is if you need a place for 4 or 5 people in one room, and you have a dog, and you can't find anywhere else to stay. I have stayed in far worse hotels, but for far cheaper. On the positive side, the walls are thick concrete and the room is quiet. They also charge a recreation fee and an additional fee for a pet, which they tell you on check-out.
