This hotel was comfortable. However, the front desk was left unattended when my family arrived. There was also always a random man sitting at the end of my floor. We arrived close to midnight and a man in the hallway when traveling with daughters was very off-putting. The following morning when we went to eat breakfast, there was another man sitting at the end of the hall. I don't know if it is a known security gap being capitalized by local men, but it was very disturbing.

We booked this stay because it was listed as sleeping 7 people. However when we got to our room, we found it only had enough beds for 6 people: two queen beds, and one pull out sofa bed. When we asked the front desk if they had a cot or something for the 7th person in our group they said no, they don't have any cots. They also said they were aware that it is listed as sleeping seven, but only had beds for 6. They suggested we put three kids in one bed. It's hard enough to get my kids to sleep while on vacation, three to a bed proved impossible. We ended up taking the cushions off the couch and putting them on the floor along with some extra sheets and blankets and pillows we from house keeping. This is where one of my kids slept. The ladies at the front desk said we should just take it up with corporate.
I realize not many families have 7 people, but if you have your listing saying you can sleep 7 people, than you'd better have enough bed spaces for 7 adults. Just because they're kids doesn't mean we can just squish extra people in a bed. I've got teenagers and they're as big as adults. It's one thing if we made that choice on purpose, but the listing was misleading.

This is clearly a competently managed, clean and comfortable property for guests such as business travelers. The few staff with whom I directly interacted were courteous and helpful. However, I downgraded my rating because I was misinformed when I contacted the hotel a week ago and checked on the availability of shuttle service from ROA after 1100 PM. I was assured that while their service shut down at 1100, I could still call the front desk and get someone/something out to pick me up. The clerk at that time assured me she would put a note to this effect into her computer with my reservation. My flight landed at 1140 PM. But when I duly called the hotel I was informed that they had no shuttle and I would have to use an Uber. If I had known that in advance that would have been ok, but I was worn out from a long day of travel and a holiday with family that was more fraught than I had expected - and I don't like surprises at the best of times, not to mention being misinformed. When I arrived at the hotel I had to work hard to be civil, but the clerk on duty understood and offered to lower the room rate to compensate for the cost of the Uber. I accepted that offer. But there was no way I could be compensated for the aggravation and standing out in the cold at the age of 78. What I found most upsetting is that this was all so unnecessary if I were informed that I would need an Uber in the first place.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel, though it wasn't anything flashy, was well kept and nice. They even left a rubber ducky for you on the bathtub, which my child enjoyed. The breakfast was pretty good, also.

The staff at the Comfort Inn Airport at Roanoke went out of their way to make my family and me feel welcomed. We meet here every year to watch the Final Four basketball tournament and we are always greeted warmly, and this year they went above and beyond to accommodate our room request for a special health need even though they were booked.

Someone left the alarm set for midnight. That was unpleasant. The hotel was difficult to find for me. It is on the road at the stated address, but not on the mall side. So, it is near the mall, as stated, but not right off the road which drives through the malI. I drove off looking for it near the mall. It is actually right off 581, which is a little past the mall. You can get there, but following GPS may not work and may drive you crazy. Once you see it from your car, you can figure it out pretty quick. 581 gives quick access 81 the next morning. The mall has many fine restaurants if you are tired of eating at Denny's. The room (King size bed) was big enough for our pack and play for our baby.
