We came in from NY to go to VCU Critical Care Hospital to see our loved one after we were notified of an emergency. We googled a hotel close to the hospital and picked the Berkeley. It was the best decision! We stayed Monday through Friday. It was clean, reliable, in walking distance, and Alfreda at the front desk treated us like family! Because of my daughter’s situation, we will be back, and will be staying here!

The rooms were lovely. It's a beautiful older hotel. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly to our fur baby.

We were in Richmond for a family event and chose to stay at The Berkeley for it's convenience to our family member and the walkability to downtown businesses. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Daily "chats" with them were the norm, and we could not have asked for better service!

The air conditioning kept shutting off in our room. They did not send someone to fix it rather said that you have to manually reset it every day. We had to reset it 3-4 times every day, in the middle of the night as well when you would be woken up cuz it shut off. The hotel did not have any self parking available as well, it was only
Valet parking and it was overpriced. Lastly, there was no fridge or microwave in the room. In todays day and age, that’s the least we expect in a family room. We had to keep buying small quantities of milk for our toddler as it would keep spoiling. Overall, it was a very poor experience for the price that we paid.

Very nice hotel but limited breakfast (no water other stuff). I brought along our 8 pound dog which cost an extra $100.00. A ridiculous amount for a pet to stay with you. Ownership should be more conscientious about the cost. They advertise as dog friendly but really that is very unfriendly amount for a small dog/family member.

The stay here as usual was excellent. We have stayed here for years when we travel to Richmond. It is our hotel of choice when we have to stay in Richmond. We only ever had one problem at a previous stay. And they went above and beyond to correct it. They have gained our trust and loyalty. My family recommends The Berkeley to anyone staying in Richmond.
The hotel is clean, charming and in a great location. Many good restaurants are within walking distance. Neighborhood feels safe and maintains the old feel of downtown Richmond.

Front desk and valet staff were kind, professional and efficient. Housekeeping was personable and did a good job. Happy with room and level of cleanliness. Only comments for improvement: should be a robe per person in each room. The one robe in our room had someone else's makeup on it and was tattered. Also, provide hot water and tea at the free breakfast and plain yogurt in addition to your kids' "Trix" yogurt. Personally, I wouldn't eat the pre-packaged breakfast sandwich provided-but it's free.

Booked the junior suite. Surprised there was no fridge or microwave, in the suite. The continental breakfast was 3 cereal choices, some plain bagels, a few warm items. There is no restaurant in this hotel. For the status and cost of this hotel, I was very disappointed in the lack of amenities but the Tobacco Company being right next door is awesome.

The night manager was very accommodating and gave us a last minute room upgrade when we arrived with one more child than we expected to bring.

Immaculate hotel. Staff was like family, approachable, caring, friendly, and knew us by name on the first day. Easy walk to food, drink and sites. No parking but the valet service was great. No restaurant, bar or breakfast but they're in the process of reopening.
