Best Western Plus Goliad Inn & Suites

Some traffic noise at night from main highway so close. Too many rowdy kids in pool, adults couldnt enjoy pool. Breakfast was top-notch, multiple choices. Room was well appointed and immaculately clean.

When we entered to check in there was no one at the front desk. After a few minutes we heard a "Will be right with you" coming from the back of the dining area. The lady finally appeared with what looked like her kids. Instead of attending to us, she continued talking with the kids. Once she finally got to us, she appeared rushed as if we weren't important. Asked for a top floor and without ever looking she quickly said "Not possible, I'm fully booked tonight" If she would have taken the time to look, she would have realized that the room assigned was on the top floor and she wouldn't have needed to give us an excuse on why our request couldn't be met. At breakfast the next morning--the eggs were runny, out of sausage and out of some fruit. There were no employees to be found in the dining area or at the front desk. One guest finally knocked on the door in the dining area to ask for more food. A man came out in shorts and a t-shirt--it looked like he was finishing his breakfast in the food prep area. We never saw any tables being cleaned between diners. It seems like this is a family run/owned hotel and the family possibly lives on site. They need to hire some help! When employees are not visible in the dining area, at the front desk or in the hallway with cleaning carts in the morning, there is a problem, and they could potentially start taking shortcuts to get the job done. Any time we walked in or out of the hotel, there was never anyone at the front desk.
