Though our room was clean and the bed was comfy, that’s kind of where it ended. The rooms were tiny, there was no room service offered, and the TV only has a handful of cable channels. No ability to buy a movie or log into an account on Netflix or anything else. The front desk staff was kind, which was great. The pool was ok, but the hot tub was filthy. Like no way would you want to soak in that, which was super disappointing since we booked this hotel specifically because of the indoor pool/hot tub for the kids. We also had what I’d probably deem as the worst breakfast service ever at their cafe. It is the only time in my adult life that I tipped less than 20%, because it was that bad. Overall very mediocre and so disappointed for the money spent. We won’t be back.

When we arrived at the hotel the valet staff was wonderful and pleasant. The service at the desk was not pleasant. I had been doing text messages for over 2 weeks requesting that my daughter’s room at least be on the same floor. It was not. I requested an earlier check in since the party we were there for was early. She just looked and said that would be $50.00. I said other family members were at other hotels and all received much nicer service at no charge. She was just rude and unapologetic. This is not what I was expecting. She should not work in hospitality.

Always a great experience at The Stephen F Austin Royal Sonesta Hotel! While not modern in design, modern conveniences are prevalent. Excellent service, comfortable beds, awesome food at Roaring Fork, love the vibe at Stephen F’s Bar & Terrace on the 2nd floor, and exceptional location to enjoy all that downtown Austin and 6th Street has to offer. Highly recommend this hotel to family and friends!

This review is from an avid reviewer, details in the writing. I apologize in advance to the property, but people have a right to know ehen you are letting a property completely slide… An absolute dump. Don’t even know where to start. Homeless, drunk, naked people all weekend right outside the door. Two doorman on duty always, not once did they open a door all weekend. Room is so shotty, the desk chair had multiple wear through marks to the foam. They haven’t put a dollar into this place in maybe 40 years. No ice bucket, called front desk twice, never got one, s short glass table next to the sink is the only place to put anything. My fault for not taking a picture of this for you. The junior suite upgrade has a television 15 yards from your bed. It’s 55-65 inches and if it was 120inches it was going to be too small. You can tell so much by the carpet in the hallways upon your arrival. I knew we were in for trouble, just walking to our room. Carpet had to be 30 years old. Totally my fault as I always read countless reviews, but my 60 year old brain just forgot on this trip. Honestly if this place was $100 a night it wouldn’t be worth it. I hope this helps somebody. Signed, “Wouldn’t stay here for free”

The Hotel was beautiful, check in was swift and my room was delightful, EXCEPT.....when a family moved in next door the second day of my stay, the noise from their room was easily passing thru the closed adjoining room doors we shared. I could hear everything from the room next door thru this adjoining room door. I really should have asked to be moved, not sure why they put us next to one another, especially since the hotel didn't seem to be extremely busy. The property management really should find out why there is no sound buffer in those adjoining room doors. So just beware, if your room has adjoining doors, prepared to know your neighbors business whether you want to or not.
