Hyatt Place Amarillo-West

Staff was great. Room was clean. Bed was so soft, it was uncomfortable for me and my hubby. The pool was so cloudy and chlorinated, I didn’t get it. My kids enjoyed it, though.

The property called after 9pm to make sure we’d still be arriving since we needed a late check in - really appreciated this! Checkin was quick and friendly in our bedraggled state. They even offered to get a nightcap from the bar still if we wanted it. The whole facility was clean, bright and well appointed. Five stars for the fantastic water pressure and shower head that I could actually wash my hair! (It’s not common to get a good hair wash while at a hotel! Haha) Not to mention that the manager saw our cooler and offered to top off the ice for us before we departed. Which I was so thankful for! Breakfast was sufficient and balanced with protein and treats for the kids. Overall never disappointed with Hyatts, and this one kept the bar set high!

As usual, Hyatt Place lived up to its current reputation. Very comfortable overall (other than that pesky pull-out sofa bed...but has anyone in the world ever slept on a comfortable one?), great value for our family of 6, above-average "typical" hotel breakfast, clean/modern ambience, and great service. Would stay here again.

Clean and a good price, were able to accommodate family if 5 with food out sofa with a double queen which was awesome.

The hotel was very clean. The staff was super friendly. Our room was very spacious and comfortable! The hotel pool was clean and warm! My kids loved it! Way better than most hotel pools on temp! Thank you!!!! Breakfast was good also! It was a bit noisy in the hallways at night but otherwise a great stay!

Great room set up for a small family of 3.

We arrived at 2:30am, understandably, nobody was at the front desk but there wasn’t a sign that said what to do (i.e. call this number, ring this bell, etc.). I decided to call the local hotel number and I had to keep calling/ringing for 15 minutes before someone showed up. They were apparently outside in their illegally parked car (parked in a handicap stall with no plate/placard), I could see her key chain had a Kia key when she dropped in the welcome desk next to her cigarettes. After she checked us in, she sat in the lobby on a chair watching movies on her phone that were loud enough for us to hear the profanity as my kids walked to the elevator. The hotel is newer and very nicely done. I get that night staff aren’t the “A-Team”, but this was clearly the 5th string playing tonight.

The bed frame had very noisy springs in it and something was making a loud whining noise all night. Not the best Hyatt I’ve stayed in, but ok. A lot of rude people checking in with kids running the halls and screaming at 11:45 pm and some jumping on the beds and stomping above us. People, learn consideration, and then teach it to your kids, please!

We booked a room for 5 (2 grandparents with 3 grandchildren. The foldout had just a top sheet and looked as if it had Ben short sheeted. No blanket either. The room has no telephone, so I called the hotel on my cellphone and was immediately put on hold. I then went to the lobby and. Saw the single desk clerk was serving food, doing checking, helping guests all by himself. He asked me to give him a minute, but he was so busy he must have forgotten. We just went to the pool figuring he’d have time later. He literally had no help. After swimming a bit, I went back to the desk, freezing, and waited until after he checked in 2 sets of guest. The room had 1 lone cup and nothing else. There was an empty shower gel and no other soap. There were 4 towels for 5 guests.

My kids loved the pool and I loved the gym. I would say that interacting with the breakfast and pool maintenance staff was great. But the main desk staff left a lot of room to grow.
