Holiday Inn Amarillo West Medical Center, an IHG Hotel

Wasn’t sure what to expect based on reviews, but to our surprise, everything was great. The property was clean both inside and outside. The staff we encountered were polite and professional. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the room temperature was perfect. We had clean linens, towels, and enough toiletries for our family. The only negative was the sofa bed being so close to the heating/cooling unit that we had to move it in order to actually use it. We obviously weren’t the first to do that as there were scuff marks on the wall from the sofa bed being moved before. The pool and hot tub felt great. The workout room was clean and spacious. The restaurant was “okay” - a little outdated and pricey, with not too many options, but the waitress was great. We did not try the breakfast buffet as it too was pricey. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others traveling to or through Amarillo.

researched hotels forever to find one that had a nice pool and hot tub and a good breakfast for my family. I typically only spend a max of $150 on hotel stays and I thought that spending more with this facility would mean better service and better accommodations and I was so wrong. At check in the girl at the front desk started checking me in and then spent 3 full minutes texting on her phone before moving back to the computer to finish my check in and then went back to her phone. When we got to the room the TV was broken, there was dried blood stains on the bed cover, and what looked like small bits of blood smeared in the shower up by the shower head. And the biggest attraction for our family was the pool and hot tub which was not in proper working order. The water in the hot tub only had two feet of water in it and the jets were streaming out of control and then the water completely drained out but the jets continued to spray everywhere. I was told by the same girl who checked us in that she didn't know there was an issue but then decided to tell me that a maintenance person would be here tomorrow to fix it because that must have been why he was here earlier. In the meantime, a bunch of guys in the pool decided to take disgusting trash cans and dip them in the pool to take the water from the pool and put it in the hot tub because no one who worked there was doing anything about it, not even blocking it off so people wouldn't use it. Racism my kids went to eat breakfast you’re host told them it wasn’t free but my kids already new it wasn’t free becouse we sit break fast there’s the day before they felt that he discrmited becouse he didn’t seat them becouse of there race unwed not to hire racist people

This place is not worth it. They didn’t give me the bed size I paid for, didn’t ensure the pillows were not down (I’m allergic) they didn’t ask me or check in with my satisfaction with the room after I asked questions about room availability. The also assumed I was with another family due to my race. The front desk ask me three times as if my “no” it not an answer. The staff doesn’t know anything about the rooms and don’t seem to understand risk of allergic reaction and how to handle multiples guest of the same race at once.

My wife, granddaughter and I stayed at the IHG Medical West in Amarillo June 11-12, 2022. Long trip in a while and we checked in late on the night of the 11th. Pretty rowdy crowd hanging around in the lobby and outside and just felt edgy given all the craziness of the world with mass shootings, etc… I was unsure about eating at the buffet vs just hitting the road early and grabbing a fast food bfast to eat in the car but my granddaughter wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant so of course we did! Bfast buffet the morning of the 12 was wonderful. Food was good, restaurant was clean but most importantly the service provided by manager John P, our waitress Bernadette and Chef D was inspiring! I don’t take time to write reviews, I just met John P, Bernadette and Chef D that morning but they truly took care of us and checked in on us and seemed to genuinely care about us. As we ate, my wife and I watched them work the room and noticed that everyone was taken care of the way you’d take care of your own family! I know this likely sounds contrived and over the top but these three people made it feel safe and ok and normal to sit in a room with a group of strangers on Highway and eat breakfast. Customer service, if it ever really was a thing, is a thing of the past I’m afraid. John P, Chef D and Bernadette understand how to show love and appreciation for people vs resentment while at work, and it sure as he
