SpringHill Suites by Marriott Florence

The front desk clerk was lovely but completely over her head with no help as hoards of families tried to check in. We waited 30 minutes for our room, and when we got there, the fridge didn’t work.

First room was unlocked and open. It also smelled like an ashtray (in a non-smoking property). Had to go back to the front desk from the third floor to get a different room. New room down the hall was at least locked up and didn't smell like cigarettes. Issues: crushed cockroaches on the walls, heavy marijuana smoke in the hall, stain on the wall that looked like blood (might have been barbeque sauce), dated bathroom (stained tub and toilet seat), no hand soap at the sink, tub was very slow draining (up to my ankles when showering), filthy glasses, and a massive noisy party on the terrace below our window with young children running through the parking lot screaming. Not well managed though the one desk clerk/ manager apologized and gave us points was nice. When i told her about the Marijuana smoke she said 'yeah they're on the 4th floor'. So you knew and didn't do anything? Won't stay here again though we've had prior pleasant visits a couple of years ago but it has gone very downhill.

There was no toilet paper in the room. There was 1 tissue left. The soap dispensers looked like a child put them on. Paint was peeling and bubbling in the bathroom.

The staff was very nice and the room was in good condition and clean. The big disappointment for us was the pool. The water was stagnant, cloudy and had bugs floating in it (indoors). I did not allow my kids to get in.

I booked last minute after road-tripping for hours with 4 children, so I was nervous for everyone involved. The front desk person was so friendly, warm and inviting. Room was clean and comfortable and the provided soap and shampoo smelled absolutely divine! The complimentary breakfast was amazing. If I had any complaints, it was that the TV guide showed “to be announced “ for every channel. This may have been user error and did not particularly affect how I felt about our stay. I would definitely choose to stay again.

This is our favorite hotel to stop in during long road trips. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, there is an indoor pool, and there are so many breakfast options including gluten and dairy free for those in my family with food allergies.

Unfortunately the pool was out of order. We were told when we checked in that it should be fixed the next morning, but then in the morning we’re told it was a part they were waiting on and the pool would not be open. There were also very loud cars in the lot that woke our baby at 10pm. The bed was very hard and our door’s latch was broken. The breakfast was overly heated breakfast sandwiches in a bag. Just not a great stay overall.

I never written a bad review, but I am prompted to write one for this hotel for two reasons: people be aware before booking, and hopefully the management does something about it, because it is a hotel with great potential. This is the worst Marriot hotel, and the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. THE GOOD The location is great, parking is convenient, and the breakfast ladies were so sweet, accommodating, patient and hard working. THE BAD This hotel stinks. It is very dirty and if I were to describe the aroma of the room I would say that it was a mixture of sweat, urine and dirt. The white towels presented a shade of grey I felt I would get dirty if I touched them. The bed was comfortable, but it was hard to feel the comfort of the bed, when the white bedsheets (in greyish hue from improper washing or the lack of it) smell so badly. My child said: It does not feel right to wear pyjamas in bed, because they will get dirty. The carpet needs a good, deep scrub. Please do something about this hotel. We travel a lot (50+ days a year) and we love Marriot hotels and book them with confidence, but after visiting this one, we truly needed a “hotel-faith restoration”.
