Hampton Inn Cleveland-Westlake

We were in Cleveland for a family get-together. It is an older hotel, but very clean. The elevator is a bit clunky. Very nice staff, good basic breakfast. Nice touch in the lobby - warm cookies, popcorn.

3 families. 5 kids. 5 teenagers. 2 dogs. 1 night stay on our way to Chicago. Clean rooms. Great location. Close to a beautiful shopping center. I misunderstood about pet fee. I was not aware it was per pet. Not per stay. Front desk was kind enough to just charge for one dog since we were only there for couple of hours. Thank you.

Property is very dated. Temperature in room would not lower and room stayed very warm. At breakfast at group staying at hotel were loud and telling lewd stories. Thankfully no families at breakfast at that time.

We were there for 4 nights, for a family gathering. The hotel was fine and the staff very friendly. We had only one issue - the bathroom door was squeaking loudly and after one night of trouble we asked them to spray WD40 on the hinges. They said they would but never did. Night 2 was troublesome again. We asked again the next day and was told that they couldn't do it because WD40 was on back order! Come on - you can walk across the street and get it at just about every store. We ended up doing that ourselves and spraying the hinges. We don't need an extra can as we have plenty at home, but now we have even more. It's also too bad there aren't more benches outside - our family wanted to gather now and then and there was nowhere to do that, especially in the morning when the breakfast room (the only space with chairs) was pretty full. But otherwise it was fine.

The hotel was clean. The staff was nice. The breakfast wasn't anything special but it was good. My children did love the complimentary cookies at check-in. The area felt safe.

After checking in, we were told to take the steps to our 3rd floor room, since both elevators were out of order. When we reached our room, the door was ajar, though nothing appeared to be disturbed. We had to be up early on Sunday morning and discovered that the shower was broken. There was no hot water. The front desk was helpful. Since they couldn't fix our shower quickly, we were offered use of a first floor room for showering. One elevator was working by then, but after waiting 5 minutes, had to walk down the stairs to shower. My husband had the same experience. The toilet ran all night. Had to go to breakfast in shifts, because the door would not lock from the outside, only from the inside. We ended up being 40 minutes late for a baby shower for our 1st grandchild, and we were supposed to be there early to help set up. Really disrupted every one's day. I am so disappointed in Hampton Inn. I know they have done some recent renovations, but this was ridiculous. It was obvious that the shower had been repaired before but it didn't work. There was duct tape on the first floor entry door. The owner / manager of this property should be ashamed.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Clean room, comfortable beds. There was a large group of high school kids on a class trip and I think the hotel planned very well to make sure there was plenty of food for 51 hungry teens and the other guests.

It was awful. We arrive very late with two kids and a very rude man in the front desk made us wait FOR US ONE HOUR in the car to let us in to our room. I had to call Expedia in order to make the man to move. At the end of the stay, they charge me $20 for a “movie” supposedly watched at 12:30 when we where sleeping. They say that’s they will investigate what happened with the movie, but that they cannot remove the charge “because it is automatically add to the check”. So basically they call me a liar. Finally, they try to charge me again for the room. I showed the invoice for Expedia showing that I already pre-paid for the room. They write down my name and the amount I paid for “checking in it later”. Stay away from this place.

This was an overnight stay for family vacation. Room was comfortable. Neighborhood was quiet.
