Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Batavia - Darien Lake, an IHG Hotel

Upon entering this Hotel, I was pleasantly surprised. It was modern and clean. The staff was friendly but didn’t have my queen suite available when I arrived. I settled for just a queen room but no money was taken off of my bill. Total red flag right there. My family walked to our room and it smelled nice and clean. There were dust webs in the corner, not enough towels in the bathroom and missing cups for the coffee bar. The air conditioning was super loud and kept our family up all night! Ugh Side note: The house keeping staff was very helpful and the late front desk girl was awesome. Overall, it wasn’t a bad stay. I just thought I would get more out of this Hotel.

First thing I noticed was floors not clean nothing wiped down crumbs in chairs and toilet gross! Went to housekeeping and requested a vacuum and supplies to clean my room because it was dirty and instead of offering to take care of if or even offer an apology he gave me the vacuum and bleach spray to clean myself the register was gross the mirrors not washed sticky phone and alarm clock then found out the pool was closed and when I asked when it might be open seems we booked here for the pool they said it was posted on there sight and nothing they could do about it as they front fest girl was literally hanging signs the pool was closed the side door flapping around won’t latch so just blows in the wind so anyone off the streets without a key can just wonder I’m not a safe feeling at all ther staircase and hallway were desk gross! Your own housekeeping lady suggested we go to the leQuinta down the street because she knew how it was and sooo overpriced $176 to feel uncomfortable and clean my own room so my child and myself could at least sleep there for the night seems we drove 1 1/2 hrs to stay here very disappointed this is aloud here and will definitely not return

Arrived at 9 at night and room was not ready yet. Not ready til almost 10 Really? Came with 2 kids but could not use the pool because it had glass in it from a party and had not been cleaned up. Reserved this place specifically so they could swim. Disappointing.

I get being under renovation but it was trashy. Pool was of course down so no one could use it which was the point of getting this hotel room for the kids to keep them busy.

Well, booking through hotels.com we had no idea the pool was down so our kids very very upset! (Did say that on H.I. Site). But that was not the only maintenance that was being done... they were redoing all the rooms on all the floors.. there was piles of microwaves and other room furniture by the elevators. Getting on/off the elevators you were running into workers bringing beds on and off the elevators. We get off on our floor and the entire hallway (capets/room doors were covered in paint/dust! Ceiling tiles missing in the hallway.. We walk into our room and there is paint "foot prints" ont the floor.. there was also a stain on our kids bedding.. The first morning we go down to breakfast and there were 4 or 5 little kids there taking up 3 tables.. come to find out they were children/grandchildren of the 3 ladies working.. i asked the one worker if she could replace the bag in the pancake machine and she said "we're not making pancakes this morning "!.. i thought to myself on a Saturday morning?.. does she just not feel like dealing with the cleanup afterwards? Anyways, i totally understand remodeling/upgrading will and needs to be done but do a floor at a time.. keep the mess contained to minimize the feel of your customers being in a work zone! In all honesty, we have a holiday inn booked for the end of march in Boston Massachusetts and i think we will be canceling our reservation and looking elsewhere... this was very off-putting!

The room itself was excellent. What my partner and I didn’t appreciate was the loud footsteps and kids running in the hallways around 1am. I get it was new years and all but come on…learn some common decency.

Pool is closed and has been closed for months. Staff let us know we could use a nearby pool of a hotel also owned by owner. So got all my kids ready and come to find out they are remodeling that pool as well. Owner owns 3 hotels locally and All are being remodeled at the same time. I had some very upset kids since we only booked this hotel due to the pool which they failed to disclose was closed to Expedia!! I don’t recommend going here if you plan on using the pool.

Darien Lake has gone down hill over the years. In the rest room, you couldnt sit on the toilet with out your whole body up against the TP dispencer I have pictures from 20 years ago when Darein lake was cleaner in such better shape the. They no longer have a light show or a ferris wheel, much less attractions. Almost all the shops have identical merchendise. Holiday Inn Express was ok, they could have cleaned the room a bit better, you could clearly tell it was not cleand properly. My kids were very diapointed that the pool was closed and has been for some time, that was the main reason I picked that hotel.

We stayed for one night. The hotel was ok. The room was so so, we could hear the people walking upstairs, and the people on our floor too, doors opening and closing all night, only two bath towels for my sister, myself and my two kids. The kids wanted to go to the pool and we found out that the pool was on maintenance so we were sent to the pool across the street.. Disgusting! The water looked green, hair everywhere it was just so gross. The breakfast in the morning was good and the restaurant staff very helpful and friendly.
