They did not serve breakfast in any of their cafes or restaurants in the morning of December 2nd. Yet they gave us a piece of paper saying that breakfast was served in the Sportsman's Club. Seems the front desk should have known that.
The room we stayed in was small but adequate. However, they had painted over the bathroom tile and it was flaking off the wall badly. Did not make sense to paint over ceramic tile.
I would not recommend this as an overnight stay unless necessary.
One positive note: they had a fabulous toy train set up in the lobby with multiple trains and even a toy roller coaster. Great for kids at Christmas time.

My room was fine except the shower was a little small and the water pressure not great! My kids and their spouses room wasn’t as great,as they found a live cockroach on their pillow in the morning!

Please read the fine print on this place before you stay here. I felt like i came from a part of the back country where I was wearing mud boots and overalls with a wife beater tshirt on. I was looked down upon by the woman that checked us in. Apparently when it says “club” on the name, you should be dressed like a business man. We looked like normal tourists with shorts, T-shirt’s and sandals, but I felt under-dressed and out of my normal tourist comfort mode. There was even a brochure on the counter that had “rules” of proper attire. We practically ran up to our room to change. The outside noise level in the room was absolutely ridiculous and we maybe got 2 hours of sleep. The shower the next morning was 2’x2’. Great fun for my 6’4”, 175# son. If you appreciate nostalgia, it’s wonderful. However, A hard “NO” for family travel.

My wife, daughter and I were passing through and needed to stay 1 night in the St Louis area. I was looking for something reasonable and different, and found it at MAC. The history and charm of the building was interesting. The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. A city water main had burst outside and we had no running water for a while, but that was not the MAC's fault and they did what they could. My daughter and I walked to the Arch after dark and enjoyed the views along with other families.

What a lovely place to stay! When we pulled up, my kids said, "This looks too nice for us." Boy, were they right. We were completely outclassed, but since it was in our price range we went right in. I felt like we had snuck into someone else's fancy wedding. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous, with hardwood everywhere and years of St. Louis history on display. The employees could not have been nicer and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and spotless.

This is a very old building, historical and beautiful in its own way from the lobby. But once you get to the rooms, the age really shows. The musky, mildew smell reminded me of my grandma's house as a kid. No view at all. Strange knobs and outlets. The A/C never turned off so it was very cold nights. The shower was very small, like grandma's. Very limited eating options so you have to venture out. I was alone so I did like the security to get in. Service was decent. But if you're used to staying in hotels with modern amenities, I might not recommend.

I chose this location for a couple of reasons: my grandfather used to be a member of this all men’s club back in the 60s and 70s. It’s also within walking distance to ballpark Village, which is very handy if you’re there to see a game. The MAC has held up beautifully over the years. The decor is like something out of another world. It is gorgeous, clean, and very impressive. The staff was kind, and very quick to respond to anything we needed. That said, please note that there is a dress code for the lobby. This was not listed anywhere on hotels.com. The problem with this? If you want to spend any time in the lobby, playing cards, waiting for friends, bringing back a pizza and not eating in your room, things families do, you need to make sure you have a collared shirt, no flip-flops, and no athletic wear. Maybe this isn’t a problem for the average traveler, but it completely kept us held hostage in our room. Did we test that theory and see if there was a worker who is going to kick us out? No. But just be aware, old charm comes with old rules. I probably wouldn’t stay there again for this reason.

No common space to visit with family. Room very small and not handicap friendly. My husband has a walker and not enough room to get through the room to bathroom, had to step up to get to bathroom.
