Best Western Plus Traverse City

Excellent customer service, especially from Tricia. We stayed at the Best Western Plus in Traverse City. We brought our grandchildren and family dog and had a fantastic time!

Property was older, but was very clean. Room was king, very large. Everyday housekeeping was excellent, but could see might need a deeper cleaning for dust on curtain tops, etc. Once in a while. Staff was kind, courteous, very accommodating. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices, food fresh, as was fruit, etc. Have to compete with a brand new hotel next door, and does well. We had family in Cambria next door. Was nice but much more expensive and had to purchase all food from restaurant. We thought this hotel was better value for the money. Update the paint colors and would be good to go!

Pros: Staff was wonderful. They were all super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and well stocked. Staff kept refreshing items. Free shuttle to downtown was very helpful. Cons: Room seemed clean, but had an overpowering musty smell. Rooms are outdated. Carpet and beds could really use replacement (or get rid of carpet altogether and replace with vinyl plank!). Bathroom is very small with sink outside bathroom so you’ll wake up anyone else if you wash your hands at night. Pool was unusable because the pool room was so unbearably hot/humid with strong stagnant smell of chlorine. Pool looked clean, but it was like standing in a sauna in that room. Not many places to hang towels in bathroom to reuse, and have to request staff to take used ones and bring new ones. No bathtub, which was ok for us, but would have been an issue with small kids. Overall the staff and breakfast is why I have 4 stars. But for the price they charge, the rooms need to be updated badly and get rid of the carpet and nasty drapes so the room doesn’t smell like a musty basement.

We arrived a little early because we had a wedding to attend and the front desk clerk said our room wasn’t quite ready then offered us a complimentary upgrade. The room had a loft with a TV and bed and made the lower part much more spacious. Would have been ideal if we had our kids with us. :) Great location, decent hot breakfast and friendly staff. I would stay here again.

We had a great shuttle ride from the airport to the Best Western and learned that the shuttle was also available to take us to town if we wanted to just wander around. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful over the few days stay - from front desk, food services (Judy) and housekeeping. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pool was great - the grandchildren really loved that.
