Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites East Lansing, an IHG Hotel

The rooms were clean. Breakfast was great. The lady is wonderful especially buying something for a lady celebrating her birthday with her family. The check in process was a problem. I prepaid through Expedia and she had a problem assigning me a room.

While I really like this hotel and the staff the two times I’ve been there something has been out of service. The first time was the elevator and we were on the third floor with a baby and our rooms heat was not working. And the second time the pool was not open. I wish we would have been made aware of these things before we booked.

We stayed here while visiting family for Thanksgiving. When we checked in, we were told the elevators were out and would have to take the stairs to the 3rd floor. That didn’t appeal to us, so we were moved to the 2nd floor. A little inconvenient but no big deal. The room was very spacious and clean with no smells! But, what really made our stay here enjoyable was their very special breakfast lady, Ms. Sheila. She was such a delight to talk to and was so friendly and happy. The whole dining area was kept sparkling clean and the food was replenished promptly. She takes pride in her work and helps out wherever the need arises. She goes above and beyond and they are lucky to have her on their staff. When we return to the area, we would stay here again just because Ms. Sheila works there (will call first to verify that she’s still there)!

They placed us and in two separate rooms that were occupied by other families we walked in on. The third room smelled like a dead animal. The fourth room we agreed to stay in had a stained shower. Customer service was terrible!

If you are traveling with babies, you should know they don’t provide a crib even though it lists cribs to be one of their available service items. When we arrived to check-in, the staff wasn’t aware that we requested for two cribs through the Expedia message function (poor communication) and he said that they don’t have any at all. His explanation was that they lost cribs a while ago during renovations and never able to locate them. What was more frustrating was that we weren’t not the first customer who had this inconvenience as he said this happened a month ago so he had to told the same thing to the other customer. I understand that this unfortunate situation could happen once but then they should have either update the misinformation on the website or gotten a crib for future customers to avoid the same inconvenience to others. Not alone, the bathroom was extremely dirty (disgusting hairs in the tub, yikes!!).

I am a alumni of Michigan State and this trip would be my first time back on campus in almost 30 years. I now have a Goddaughter who is interested in attending MSU. We brought her to see the campus and experience a basketball game. This hotel was one of the highlights of the trip. It was clean, beautiful and relaxing. The staff is excellent. The stay was well worth the cost. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family.

Motel in good condition, but they need modern comfort height toilets. Our room had a low toilet , fine for a child but uncomfortable for adults.
