New Bedford Harbor Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection

I remember the building as a department store as a kid growing up. The grab and go breakfast was a joke and the parking was two blocks away in a unsafe area.

About 3 blocks from the center of the dining/bar/shopping scene. Some street noise from the locals who love revving motorcycle engines. Convenient bar downstairs and helpful desk personnel. We stayed 2 nights and did not get our room serviced. Rooms are rather small for families.

I spent one night here with my mom on a family trip. We reached New Bedford at night and I didn't realize there was only street parking. There is a parking garage several blocks away, but it would have been too far for my mom with luggage. I live in a similar city so I got the feel of downtown NB and it's not a great place to be walking around at night - at least for 2 women who are unfamiliar with the area. We were told we had a quiet room but we heard sirens, car horns honking, and people yelling until at least 1 a.m. At that point my mom joked that she sure knows how to pick hotels! We both had a laugh and finally drifted off. As far as the room is concerned, we had a king-sized bed and there was very little space to walk around. The bed and shower were basic and clean. I do want to say that the two women working the front desk were professional and exceptionally helpful. We had a cooler and they ran and got us ice on our way out without us asking. I would chalk this one up to me doing more research!
