This place is really wonderful. The room was very nice, the beds comfty and the view of the river was beautiful. We happened to come after a pipe problem that made all the water rusty for hours. My family was in need of showers since they had come off of a 6 day bike trip. It was pouring rain. We thought about leaving to find another hotel (only one other around there). Shannon, the front desk person was very helpful. I told her we might need to leave or would like a credit. She called the owner and gave us the night free which was so nice. After running the water for several hours it finally ran clear. We went out and bought water to drink. Eventually the showers were taken after an excellent meal at Helen's, a restaurant on the premises. All in all, it was a really nice place and we all said we would come again if in the area.

Lovely spot! Beautiful river view outside our window! Our room was spacious with kitchen, dining, and little living space with electric fireplace. Just wonderful! The TV was a problem child and needs to be addressed.

Quick overnight to see family and beaches. Rooms were good. Beds were not that satisfying. No shampoo.

Without many lodging options available on a recent trip to visit relatives, the Machias River Inn looked like a good choice online. An adequate motel/motor lodge, certainly wouldn't consider it an "inn". Clean and basically furnished, it shared a huge parking lot with a very busy restaurant, with people coming and going all day & night directly on the other side of the room door. To the back was a sliding glass door which put one out on the grassy bank of the river, and some chairs, picnic tables and fire pit were available on a first come basis. We were not given any information about these amenities upon checking in, so didn't realize the fire pit was gas and easy to use, which we would have had we known. The motel was almost fully booked, and a family above us had children running back and forth from one end of their room to the other- really sounded like a herd of wild horses- point being the the walls/floor were thin. Every time the man in the next room sneezed I wanted to say "God bless you"!
