Very nice hotel, but we had a room facing a very loud street. Pounding dance music until 1:00am kept us up. Loud drunken guests were partying and slamming doors all night long. At one point I heard the front desk manager come up and tell the party to quiet down, but that didn’t result in anything. After the party noise stopped around 3am a baby was screaming in the room above us for hours. Rough night. We reported all this upon checkout, but apparently nothing could be done for us because we booked the room through Expedia. apparently had we booked direct the hotel manager could have taken something off the bill.

Requested a crib for our infant son and was not provided with one. It felt like we were in the worst room in the hotel for noise. We were right by the elevator and laundry area for the service staff. We heard constant banging as the service staff brought linens and other supplies up and down the elevator at all hours. It was very difficult to sleep and our baby was very restless because of it. We definitely had hoped for better.

While driving to our weekend getaway in Portland, I received a text from the hotel saying that the room I booked was no longer available due to “maintenance issues”. I live about 2.5 hours away. They then informed me that my room was being downgraded. Originally booked a king size bed with a jacuzzi tub, they put us in a small room with just a queen. They stated no other rooms were available. They did offer us free parking and some chocolate covered strawberries. This weekend was supposed to be a nice, romantic getaway with my wife (kid-free). I was incredibly disappointed that they changed the room with such short notice. I would have looked for a room elsewhere. This was our second time staying at this hotel, but we will not be returning.

We were up for our daughter’s wedding and the hotel was a perfect location. We had family staying at other hotels nearby and everyone thought ours had the biggest rooms and the nicest common areas.

Well maintained, clean and beautiful. The sit down furniture in the room is pretty sparse. Would be nice to have a comfy chair or couch available. Cool wardrobe and roll down desk top pieces of furniture--definitely an nice, old world touch. The bed was very comfortable. Coffee, drinks, cookies, pastries and other snacks available 24-7 at the end of the hall near the elevators--definitely enjoyed that. Parking was very easy with valet. They got the car back to us when we needed it within 5 min via a text message. Weirdly (like the rest of Portland) not very handicap friendly. It was quite difficult to get our stroller in and out of places because there were ramps only in specific entrances. We were able to overcome it fine, but if I was someone on crutches or requiring a wheelchair I'd be very upset. This is something not limited to the hotel--all the places we went downtown were like that. Easy, walkable access to all of downtown Portland. We had our baby with us and temperature regulation in the room was difficult. The vents seem to cool from the floor upwards, so the crib was a no-go. It was absolutely freezing down low. Baby ended up sleeping the in the gigantic bed with us, which worked fine. Obviously not "Safe sleeping". The hotel was very accommodating when we needed an early check in and a late check out. Overall nice place to stay! I would stay here again. Maybe not with a baby though.

I really liked the New England feel of the place! My family was so impressed--we loved coming back to the hotel every evening to a clean room. We loved the walkability to the docks and all the cute shops close by. We had a wonderful week! Thank you

I loved the look and feel of this property, and the amenities provided on each hall - the penny candy jars were a hoot to find. What I didn't like is how loud the property is. Doors bang when guests return to their rooms. You can hear everything in the hallways from your room. It was especially frustrating with guests who had yappy dogs. Maybe all of the families traveling with pets could at least be on the same level?
