Overall the hotel is just fine. Note though that the A/C unit thermostat in our room was in Celsius units. TV remote had issues too, otherwise the room was comfortable. The breakfast was fine, but my spouse found a hair in his eggs. The worst part was the check-in though where there was no one at the front. Another family was waiting to check-in in front of me. They called the attendant from the front desk assistance phone after we had waited 10 mins for someone to show up and he replied that it would be another 5 minutes. Total wait was probably close to 20 minutes to even check -in. Then when I was checking in the attendant was venting about his day and life. I felt bad for him, but had been traveling all day and just wanted to get myself situated for the night.

Only issue was you could hear the kids running around in the room above us.

It was very clean and the help was very friendly. It appears to be family run which was nice to see. This is a great location in the Iowa City area.

Overall I’d say the stay was a good one. Overall the hotel is good for the price. There is areas where it could use an update but it’s not run down or anything just showing it’s age a little. The first day we checked in put our stuff in the room then left for dinner, when we came back the room smelt terrible. It smelled of sulfur and was awful so we called down to the front desk and the person that answered was very helpful and although they didn’t have an answer as to what caused that they were able to put us in another room and even brought the key card to us. Other than that and some crazy kids running around the first night, the hotel itself and the staff were wonderful. The breakfast area is kept well stocked and clean which is awesome. They also have a soda dispenser in the breakfast area which is cool. My only other slight problem which isn’t that big of a deal is breakfast on week days ends at 9:30 which is a little early. But overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This might be one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I checked out 3 days early (losing money) because I just could not stay another day. One of the guests nearby or above (a family of 4) were so loud that I could hear everything they said because they were all screaming. When the kids started jumping up and down, my whole bed and room shook. This went on until 11pm each night. Also, the bed was so bad that I still have back pain.

The staff from Check in, to breakfast, to check out was super friendly and positive. Appreciated that! However you get what you pay for here. It could have used a better overall cleaning. The bed was hard as a rock. The television has zero kids channels for our littles to watch and veg out after a long day on the road. Again, for about $100, we weren’t expecting a whole lot however just feel a little more effort could be made to make the overall stay a little more comfortable.

It was very quiet, however, while my kids were in the pool, there were a couple of adults that were very rude to them. They are old enough to go to the pool alone as they are 16 years old. There were kids running around in the hallways and I almost ran into them while I was walking down to the pool to check on my girls. The staff was very friendly during check-in and checkout. Also, there was one guest that kept staring at me and acting weird. There was a party in one room and they were loud and they were letting their kids run up and down the hallways. It’s not the staffs responsibility to watch everybody’s kids and it is very disrespectful to other guests to let your kids run around without supervision.

Our door lock broke and we found a bag of baby food and toys in our room. The front desk person was not competent and did not even apologize for the broken we had to wait for them to look for the overwrite key before we were checking out and did not say anything about the bag of garbage we found in our room when we first checked in. We liked the layout of the room.

We really enjoy staying at this hotel, but I just questioned why my bill was higher than expected. I was told the pet fee for a suite is $50 per night rather than the $35 stated in the policy. It’s not a lot of money but very disappointing since our dog behaves better than most children.
