This is always a favorite stay of mine when flying to Iowa to visit family. The staff is lovely and it's one of the best hotels in the Midwest for a blend of high quality, dining, walkability, and price.

What a beautiful hotel. We stayed one night on our way through Iowa. The staff is outstanding and so helpful. Texting the front desk when you needed anything or had a question was so easy and came in very handy. We had packed up the car and had left the hotel but I had left my water bottle on the ledge of the building, I was able to text them to ask if they had found it, they did and we were able to swing back and grab it, they were all so nice! The room was very clean and comfortable and my kids and I really enjoyed our stay in such a gorgeous hotel! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Des Moines!

It was a fun place to stay, my kids loved taking pictures in the mirrors with vintage outfits. Everything was so close and convenient to walk to as well.

Texts from the staff was very helpful and even recommended late night food that was close. Helped with getting a pizza. Walking into the room and the TV displayed my name! That is new and pretty cool. I would definitely return and can hopefully make it to the speakeasy. Thanks for a wonderful graduation weekend with the family. Abram & Michelle

Wonderful hotel. I booked 4 rooms for our family during my daughter's wedding. All family members appreciated the ambience, convenience, and excellence of this historic hotel. We had a dinner for family of wedding couple in hotel restaurant. The dinner and service was outstanding! Highly recommended.

The hotel was gorgeous, very clean and well kept. Had everything we needed for our stay. All the restaurants and cafes nearby were nice and convenient also. The park across the street was great for our kids.

Stayed one night with two kids on a road trip making our way from Denver to Chicago. Can't say enough positive things - so beautiful, room was modernized and clean but designed with vintage-esque style. My kids actually preferred this stay over one in a nice new Waterpark hotel on our way out to Denver - wasn't expecting that! Front desk ladies I dealt with were super nice. Hob Nob coffee in the morning (Honey Lavender latte) amazing. We parked in the public parking garage right behind the hotel. It must be free on weekends because I ended up not having to pay. Rates posted were $8/24 hours. Loved the old school elevators and grand staircase. Will stay again if in Des Moines!
