Hyatt Place Chicago/Lombard/Oak Brook

I typically have good luck with Hyatt Place so I booked this hotel for a recent 4th of July trip with my family. We were given a room that was in need of serious upkeep. The pullout mattress looked like it had blood stains and the springs were popping through in some places. Carpet was extremely grimy with dirt ground in. The cloth sides of the bed frames and the couch itself were also filthy. We thought about getting another room but were told this was the only available room that could sleep 5. Also, when we checked in there barely any towels and bedding for the pullout was missing. It took quite awhile to get all of that-it seemed like the place was understaffed. The staff was courteous and the breakfast was ok. But that didn't make up for the condition of the room and hotel in general.

We've stayed at this location many times over the years, and find the rooms to be spacious and comfortable. First time staying in a double+double bed room instead of king+sofa room with 2 kids. The smaller bed took getting used to, but there was more room overall, which was nice. I like the extra living area (sofa, desk, fridge, bar sink), which makes extended stays more comfortable. The bathrooms are pretty tight, though. A new trend in many similar hotels is to no longer have small soap/shampoo in the rooms, but rather having large refillable body wash + shampoo. This is fine except we run out frequently and the hotel does not seem equipped to refill them quickly. We were able to get some soap bars from the front desk, but this is an extra trouble. The breakfast at Hyatt Place is generally better than most of its peers, but the breakfast area is woefully inadequately sized for the number of travellers at the hotel. Certain foods (hash browns) run out, and there are long lines (waffle maker!). Navigating the area is elbow-to-elbow, and there are barely enough seats. It seems more crowded than I remember in previous years. Over the past ~15 years, the hotel is starting to show some wear (carpets, cabinets, etc). While I would previously rate 5 stars, the wear and reduction in service brings down to 4. A large sign at the desk states housekeeping is only on request. Sign of the times, I suppose. All staff was friendly though, so it's till a nice visit.

Pool area was overcrowded. Other guests had an huge crowd with them and would get annoyed when our 13 year old wouldn’t keep getting up to let them in the pool area since a room card was needed. Hotel room was okay when we first walked in the room smelled a lot like the pool area and was humid.The floor was also pretty big stains in multiple areas. Then the morning of checkout someone was smoking and the smell traveled to our room where our kids were still asleep. Wasn’t the worst hotel since the area it’s in is nice. But most likely won’t be going back again.

Very nice property. Very family friendly. Manager Abdalla, is a very good man who care allot about the customer experience, goes above and beyond.

Everyone was polite and friendly. The staff were attentive and helpful. The room we had was perfect and spacious, as we had 5 people traveling together. Breakfast was great each morning with lots of options compared to other places we've stayed at. The staff kept the swimming pool opened a little longer when the kids were having fun swimming together, which was really nice. There were tons of place to eat around the area, and nice shopping areas close by. It was an easy drive to the downtown area. We really enjoyed our stay

The police were called. Lots of parties, fights, threats of gang violence. I had 2 of my children and 5 of my grandchildren. Not a good place for them

It was nice. However, the restaurant was not in service. No room service for food either. It would have been nice to have these options especially when traveling with children.

Super family friendly!

The room itself was fine. There however was noise in the hallway throughout the late evening early morning hours. The hotel did nothing about children running around the lobby and elevators from the pool, getting water All over the floors and elevators. The morning male staff at the front desk was rude to myself and to other guests as well. The pool was very cold as well. The breafast dining area was dirty.

We were here over Thanksgiving as it was coinvent to family. Hotel is pretty standard. Breakfast is adequate but average. Gym is small, so used the treadmills a few times. Rooms are spacious and allowed me to work remotely. Overall it's an OK hotel (could use some love/updating), but it was really conveniently located for our plans. Staff was super friendly and helpful!
