Holiday Express & Suites Dahlonega, an IHG Hotel

Had a great Christmas-time stay with family two children. It is right on Main Street with shopping all around. The staff was great. We needed assistance both days and they were happy to help. Breakfast was really good. They ran out of their delicious sausage gravy on the second day but we got down to breakfast around 9 so it was a little late. The room was very clean and everything worked well. Bathroom was clean and had no issues with hot water. Highly recommend staying here while in Dahlonega. They have two floors of parking. Didn’t know this checking in but we eventually found the basement level lot.

It took 3 tries to get into our room. They key just wouldn’t work. If I was alone, it wouldn’t have been a problem, but we had a baby that needed to get to sleep. The clerk at the counter, was busy on the phone and asked us to wait. NOT WITH A TIRED BABY!! she should have had more help, or should have put the call on hold.

The hotel condition and location are good. However, the hotel has an extremely poor management and staff training. We stay there for 3 nights, and everyday there is an issue. In the first night, the smoke alarm started beeping at 5:30AM, caused by a staff in the kitchen preparing breakfast. In the second night, there is NO breakfast served at all. In the third night, the staff knocked at our door at 10:30 PM (by when my kids were all sleeping), saying that our credit card did not go through, which they later realized that it's their own mistake (made the staff who prepared our check-in). One staff also mentioned that they do not have a manager. Overall, I did not find it worth $200 (after tax)/night at all.
