Amelia Hotel at the Beach

Perfect family getaway!

I have been staying at the Amelia Hotel for many years and always enjoyed the family feel about how the place is run and, of course, it great that it is walking distance to the beach, with pretty fair pricing and no extra for parking. There has only been one time when my room was not very clean, but they moved me without a hitch. I am still thrilled they got rid of the old carpet, and sad they changed their breakfast choices to same-old same-old. I guess that's what most people want... This last visit everything in my room was immaculate, the bed and pillows super comfortable, and all the folks, from the desk to the house-keeping and maintenance, so easy going and friendly. I will return.

We lived in Fernandina Beach/Ameila Island for 2 years and have since moved south but still have family and friends there. We chose this hotel due to the proximity to our friends, the beach, and Sliders restaurant across the street. We were disappointed! The hotel itself is in desperate need of a renovation. The bathroom in our room was in need of repair, the walls were cracked, the moldings were damaged, and the bathtub faucet was held together with tape. The sink faucet was rusty. The fixtures in the room like lighting was not coastal and looked old. The room was also not cleaned properly. We had to pull out the nightstand to plug something in and there was a pile of dust and bottles of lotions behind it. The hall and our room had a hideous smell of ammonia when we arrived. I had to dig out room spray from my bag and literally spray the hall and our room in order to be in there. The pool area was very dirty and you could see all the pool pumps and whatnot which did not feel relaxing. We couldn’t get towels due to there not being any clean. At a beach hotel, there should have been piles of towels available. There wasn’t any nice landscaping to look at and everything just looked worn out. The back door of the hotel is unlocked at all hours so anyone can come in and out which was a huge safety issue. I will say that the staff was nice, especially the individuals helping at breakfast. They were amazing! The food was decent and the coffee was good.

Just a quick trip.. location is great more of a friends not family hotel.

The lady at the front desk was very welcoming. In addition to making check-in very simple, she offered my kids complementary cookies and drinks. The room was clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable too.

Bathroom Vent in room 321 was very dirty. Rust in bathtub and lights in 303-2 bulbs burned out. Had a few rooms as we are making our way to Florida as a family. Because we booked on Expedia we were unable to change rooms. Front desk staff less than impressionable and continental breakfast was typical. If they invested some money into this place it could be a gold mine. New faucets-lights-some paint.

My family had the best time, clean clerk was very nice super sweet, the kady thar cooked was amazing, i have been telling everybody to sray there, we absolutely love it

Nice older hotel. The room are very large. There were many families staying there. Breakfast was good. Staff accommodating.

We checked in and went to our room briefly, then went out to eat. When we came back. There was another family in our room. They had been given the wrong room and were moving to the right room, but it already needed to be cleaned. Rather than clean it, we were given another room. When we went to that room there were people in it, but they were also leaving and did not seem to have used anything in the room. Definitely a room management issue here...

I am only giving this hotel a 2 star due to the amazing location to the beach and dining options. The hotel bathroom was not very clean and the light fixtures were covered in thick dust. There was no where to wash the beach sand off your feet before entering the building so sand was a problem in the room. The front desk said there was a shower at the pool to wash off but it was not working. Even if it was working you had to walk all the way around to the pool to do it which was not feasible when you are trying to carry beach items as well. There were kids running up and down the hallways till late at night. The hotel provided pool noodles at the pool and kids were slamming pool noodles at the pool till late at night yelling and screaming. We were across from the janitorial staff washing room and break room so they were talking loud and filling their carts at the early hours of the morning right outside our door. Unfortunately we would not stay here again despite the great location to the beach. So sad!
