Let me say, we love staying at the Queen Anne. We've stayed multiple times and will stay again despite the 3 start rating. The location is perfect for us (near family, Filmore Dining and Japantown) and they have real suites, a must when traveling with a teen. And it's affordable! (Check all travel sites, their own site is not always the best price). I wish they had a points program! What is the issue? The literal pain in my back. The springs of every single sofa, chair and mattress are worn to the point of incredible discomfort. The lobby is full of seating (which makes it wonderful, it even has two fireplaces plus nooks) so that's a lot of worn springs. I've even found a nearby chiropractor because the seating is so bad I can barely stand up straight after a few days. I now bring my own lumbar pillow (there are some lumbar pillows there, they are decorative, not for support). I have never stayed in a hotel with this problem. Ever. I want to give the QA a five star rating because of the price, the Victorian "theme", the full breakfast and friendliness of staff etc, but comfort is a factor and it shouldn't come to needing to avoid most of the furniture and bringing my own lumbar pillow. I hope they can make the change and I can rate it five starts next time.

This was my second time staying at The Queen Anne. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My family and I enjoyed the breakfast as well as the other goodies that were offered throughout the day. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Exceptional. We stayed with our grandchildren and when I asked what they thought but they said 5 star 5 star 5 star! They thought the beds were very comfortable, the breakfast was great, the living space on the ground floor as well as in the hallways was very relaxing We played chess and enjoyed tea time in the downstairs living space which was a plus. Location is central and close to bus lines. Cannot say enough about the staff. Wonderful.

Great spot, affordable for San Francisco. Most likely haunted, but I slept like a baby under the weighted comforter.

Beautiful lobby with sitting room for guests. Great location. Parking lot across the street. Complimentary breakfast. Friendly staff. Our room was unique in that it had an upstairs siting room and two separate bedrooms down a flight of steps (inside the room). Good for families, friends or two couples. Over all clean except steps needed a better vacuuming. Private patio with table and chairs. Mattress could use an update.

This hotel was built 2 yrs after Hotel Del Coronado, in 1890. Its Beauty remains to present day. Most All staff were very attentive, running to fill your request. Deluxe Breakfast was good. Afternoon coffee/cookies/sherry was fun to enjoy while in the library with fireplaces. Our son took his turn to play the baby grand piano. Cool to walk down the staircases, and up the elevator to 4th floor. $30/day parking was easy. The hotel is not airtight, so expect some drafts, or warm spots..as it survived the 1906 major 7.9Mw earthquake. Slept well, better if my hub and son didnt snore! Bring earplugs. ENJOY!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We enjoy Japantown, so it’s proximity was a big reason we chose it. It is an easy walk. The Queen Anne is beautifully decorated and has such a wonderfully kind staff. The complimentary cookies, tea, and brandy laid out every afternoon are a wonderful little bonus. The building itself is beautiful inside with Victorian decor. I liked that they had a history of the building written in a binder in the rooms. The only thing I was not a fan of was the sofa bed in the room that we booked. It was so uncomfortable that I bought another room for the two nights that we were there. If you are, like me, not a spring chicken do yourself a favor and do not try to sleep on a sofa bed! The regular beds were quite comfortable. Overall I fully recommend staying at this hotel. They have a parking lot so you don’t need to worry about your car. We had a toddler traveling with us and the hotel was quiet enough for her to sleep in with no problems. The breakfast is good, staff is kind, and the hotel felt safe to me. We had my sister stay here when she came to SF a few months later. Enjoy your stay!

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. We had a room with two queen beds, but the room itself was very spacious and one of the beds felt like a king-sized bed. For a family of four, it felt luxurious to have more space.

This hotel is a little antique gem. Love its personality and the history behind it. Gorgeous Victorian antique decor in every corner. Well located. Very very quiet area near the Japan Town neighborhood about 10 min. Walk to California street (cable car stop) and 5 to Van Ness Street (bus to Fisherman Wharf) The staff was amazing, super helpful and ready and happy to help with anything. The common areas were beautiful and well kept. Loved the antique baby grand piano (my daughter loved playing it) The Continental Breakfast was yummy. Our room was not the best room in the property. Pros very quiet room. Cons could of been a bit cleaner, and it felt old and in need of a bit of a touch up/remodeling (but it is a very old property so expect that) Other than that we had a fun time at the hotel when we got back from exploring town during the day it was nice to seat in the lobby and enjoy the fireplace and some relaxing time while my daughter played the piano! We will consider staying here again in our next visit.
