Palihotel San Francisco

Holy cow… what an experience. Our stay started off with no parking information upon pulling up, or anyone to help with bags/valet etc. After we had parked the staff told us we should move because the garage across the street is too dangerous. This was annoying but nothing like what was awaiting us. The walls and windows are so thin that any noises sound like they are right in your room with you. The night started with a screaming newborn, and was quickly followed by hours upon hours of a mentally ill person in the alley (that most of the rooms back up against) screaming demonic sounds into the night, unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. It was truly frightening and we felt incredibly unsafe. The hotel staff seemed un-phased. We assume this is normal because the rooms come with a set of ear plugs that don’t help much. Beyond the screaming, is a regular garbage pick up at the crack of dawn that goes on for 20 minutes each day. If we weren’t flying out in the morning we would have checked out immediately. Expect zero sleep or privacy. Pali is a greatly respected brand and extremely nice in LA. I cannot understand why they wouldn’t replace the windows of this old building or take extra safety precautions. The only redeeming quality was the bath products and bed linens. Cannot stress enough how bad this experience was. Hotels should be in the business of providing sleep, not physiological warfare.
