The Jack London Lodge

This the gem of Glen Ellen. Perfect location. Middle downtown but feel like in the rural area. Quiet, by the creek, bird's habitat. The room is comfortable. The pool / jacuzzi are like a real spa. I loved walking to dinner and having drinks next door, came back to the lodge and slept well. I believe its family owned. Front desk was very welcoming.

This property is quite the throwback in all of the right ways. We stayed in one of the older rooms, and it was fine. But I have a feeling the newer, renovated rooms are much nicer. It’s quiet, no matter what time of day. Kim at the front desk is a saint. Amazingly patient, friendly, and welcoming. It was too chilly to try out the pool, but the hot tub was hot and spacious. The surrounding gardens are beautiful, right next to the creek. Glen Ellen itself is a magical place I could see myself retiring to. Literally every single person we met was so incredibly nice! Plus you are near such a plethora of wineries. Make sure to try Benziger, which is just four minutes down the road. Beautiful inside, run by a wonderful family. We enjoyed speaking to Jim and learning about the wines and the owners’ biodynamic approach to creating excellent wine while still retaining the integrity of the land. Eat at the Fig Café. You will not be disappointed! And be sure to enjoy a cocktail at the Jack London Saloon. Such a cast of characters, and bonus, you can shoot pool. Plus, they are open till midnight.

This motor hotel is nicely located in the town of Glen Ellen, walking distance from some decent restaurants. It has its own pub with a backyard patio. A small outdoor pool makes it good place for kids. The staff were very helpful.
