The Shattuck suite was clean and comfortably slept a family with three teens. The hotel bar was really nice. Short five minute walk to Berkeley campus. Great restaurants all around the hotel. Downside is that there were many people suffering from drug addiction and mental health issues on the surrounding streets.

The construction noise and been woken up at 7:30am to a bulldozer by my window was unfortunate. I wish the check in person would have considered a different room for my family.

Called to cancel reservation since I had to fly home for a death in my family. Charged me full night’s fee and said they couldn’t help because I booked my reservation through Hotels.com.

A wonderful boutique hotel in downtown Berkely with a storied past. Beautiful Georgian architecture and spacious, well appointed rooms. Try Zino restaurant for dinner which has delicious, and very well thought out and interesting, Mediterranean appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Oscar, our waiter, was knowledgeable and so pleasant; he absolutely made our evening! We will definitely be recommending this Hotel to family and friends and look forward to staying here again.

The pictures and star ratings for this hotel are not accurate. The location of this hotel is in the center of homeless and transients. Screaming homeless middle of night and just generally walking around entire front of hotel at all times. I felt like we were on skid row in downtown LA! Despite what’s happening outside the hotel, property seemed to have tried to renovate. Our room had 2 towels for 4 guests, took 2 days to finally grant towel request, bathtub drain clogged, air conditioning unit from the 70’s, beds were not comfortable, key stopped working, had to request additional toilet paper (provided only half a roll) . I had to find housekeeping on a floor personally myself. I never review, although I think our experience would benefit future guests. Hotel is more a 2-3 star in my opinion. Fear of outside danger for me and my kids make it a 1 star.

Very good , provided free products for Cal family week, sunscreen, fan, lotion, hand sanitizer…
Only thing is they forgot to clean the room the next day but were quick to bring towels when asked

This is a cute boutique hotel with a vintage vibe, but along with that comes small rooms and even smaller bathrooms. It was tight for a family of 4, but would be ok for a couple. The rooms are not sound proof, but I travel with a fan so it was manageable. Overall an ok hotel though.
