We always stay at the Clayton when visiting Belfast, but I have to say this trip was disappointing. Firstly the bar, not only have they hiked the prices up, it was comfortably the most expensive bar we visit all weekend. Secondly the pool closure… between our booking and our arrival the pool had closed down.. this was not communicated to us and we even arrived at the spa, with our young daughter, to find it all closed up. Reception staff, we dealt with 2, one was very helpful, the other quite the opposite. Cleanliness, our room wasn’t cleaned properly on our first night (bathroom bins full on nappies (in sacks) not emptied and breakfast plates left). Room service glasses and plates left in to corridors for half the following day (not great when travelling with a toddler). All in all, the hotel has gone downhill since our last visit and we’ll most likely stay else where when next in town.

We booked because of the pool that was the only reason! I found out in belfast live it had closed permanently. I’m still waiting on someone from Clayton to tell me that it was closed, no apology or compensation and if I had of known the pool was closed we would have changed hotel but it was too late! Not impressed and wouldn’t stay again. In your webpage under dry gym it still has a picture of a kid in. Pool might want to change that.

We really enjoyed our mini break in the Clayton. Hotel is great location to the city centre. Family Room was clean and decent size. Hotel bar and lobby area were lovely and staff were very friendly. Pool was a big hit with the kids - the only downside was the water temperature. It could have been warmer. We added breakfast at check in as the hotel were doing an offer. It was lovely - buffet of fresh food and additional items such as porridge and fried/boiled eggs can be ordered. We will definitely stay again.

Staff at check in were lovely and very chatty and friendly. The room was big although the bed did not look or feel like a king in the executive suite. The swimming pool was absolutely freezing. No one mentioned this to us even so we had told staff we intended on going. We got towels from the pool desk and again nothing was said. Having undressed a toddler and got all the way to the steps in the pool to discover the water was freezing. Unbearably cold. We then had to turn around and leave and when I mentioned this to the staff at the desk leaving he said “yeah management have the pool heating turned off to save money” - I wish we knew and saved ourselves all the trouble!

Lovely stay - fab location, great staff but the pool is FREEZING! Not suitable for children, probably ok if you want to power swim lengths and you like hyperthermia!

Not a good choice….Not worthy….Not even a bottle of mineral water in the room while check in.we used the tap water from toilet to make tea….A flat tv with local channels ,no YouTube, web browser ,cannot connect with mobile too..while travelling with kids good TV is a must choice.Cannot lock the toilet door💩. The good things are breakfast, pool, and steam bath..
