I knew the White Horse because I used to live in Romsey but never stayed there before. It's been up and down over the years and this is definitely an up time. Very welcoming, very friendly. All clean and well appointed. We asked for a child bed in the room which was ready when we arrived. The mattress was worn and very uncomfortable. Spoke to reception in the morning and it was being changed by the time I got back to the room.

Checking experience was poor (we arrived around 6ish) with 2 young kids and several bags. No lift "as this is a grade 2 listed building", no assistance with bags so several trips up three flights of stairs was required, no on-site parking, no air-conditioning either, which was uncomfortable in this heat. We were given cheap, basic fans in our rooms. We provided feed back to management via hotels.com and to the Nonchalant Male Receptionist during our stay; however, it was NOT acknowledged. No one addressed our dissatisfaction whatsoever!!! No family rooms despite being sold as a family friendly hotel, requested adjacent rooms to my kids and partner a month before our arrival, I even called ahead and was given false reassurance. We were here to celebrate my partner's and son's birthday and I wanted everything to run smoothly and it didn't. Profoundly disappointed!

We were attending a family wedding in a nearby village. Trying to book the restaurant in advance for a meal the night before the wedding was almost impossible. The online booking system is terrible and nobody answers the phone in either hotel or restaurant. Gave up the meal. Communication with staff was not good and the extractor fan was hanging out in one room. Otherwise clean and comfortable, but not really the expected standard. Generally disappointing.

Not impressed. Rooms not next to each other (we went as a group) daughter has hypomobility and hypotonia and we were put on first floor, a number of stairs for little ones and not suitable for anyone with disabilities. Smoke alarm went off at 6am waking the children up. Autistic child most upset and wouldn’t go back to sleep. Breakfast service terrible, wrong food brought out, had to keep asking for things - like toast. Parking off site difficult with children. Left apple AirPods in room, contacted hotel to let them know they had been left by the bed only to be told they were not there. People were heard complaining in the dining room about the terrible breakfast service. Steak the night before was very salty and dry.
