Holiday Inn Express Gloucester - South, an IHG Hotel

Placed in a room that was adjoining to another as a couple. The noise was awful, we could hear the next room snoring all night, had very little sleep. Why put us in there? A family staying there at the same time had said they couldn't manage to get an adjoining room!

Great stay accommodations next door to each other and ground floor as requested. On site free parking. Pub / restaurant next door also. All hotel staff Pleasant and helpful. Booked in straight away shown to rooms. Everywhere inside and out was clean and tidy. Enjoyed the breakfast, staff joined 2 tables together so we could eat as a family. We have been here several times before Will definitely use this particular hotel again.

Booked the 2 rooms for my husband & myself with our daughter & grandchild in the next room. Lovely surprise that it had a joining door. We had a lovely night out in Gloucester then came back for a few drinks at 10pm. Unfortunately the Bumblebee inn next door had already closed. So early night to our rooms with plenty of fun & laughter before going to sleep. Lovely cooked breakfasts in the morning before going our separate ways. Can’t beat a Holiday Inn will definitely stay again.

Huge shame as I've stayed in this hotel a few times now but won't again after last nights stay. The hotel room (No 100) felt dark and dingey and didn't feel very "clean", the wallpaper is starting to come off the walls and there was a very suspect lumpy brown stain on the carpet, it could've been chocolate? The bathroom was very clean though. Now normally i have no complaints after staying in a holiday inn express, you get what you pay for sort of attitude but the bed was easily the worst we've ever slept in, we had the most awful nights sleep imaginable, such a shame as we had a 3 hour drive and a full on day visiting family in Gloucester the next day but we were utterly exhausted. The breakfast was awful as well, hot food was sausages, beans, scrambled egg and bacon. The option of a veggie breakfast was the scrambled egg, beans and veggie sausages, not great, it would be better if you had the option of fried egg, hash browns etc. I had toast which was ok, Had the usual pastries which were nice, didn't have the cereal so can't comment on that. When we checked out we were asked if our stay was nice so i told them the above and was answered by "that surprises me as the staff use that room when we have to sleep over, I'll ask maintenance to have a look at the mattress" no apology or anything :( We've stayed at numerous Holiday Inn express' around the country but will seriously consider other hotel chains before this one now.
