Turned me away after a valid booking with 3 kids under 5 at 9pm. Management rude and unprofessional. NEVER stay here

I was dropped of by a family member that was stressed at driving at an airport. Not knowing how I was going to get a child and suitcases into the Sofitel Hotel. Only to be meet at the car by a friendly face offering to help unload my suitcases.. alleviating all my problems.. Amazing!!

We booked 3 rooms and requested they be near each other, two connecting. I received confirmation from Sofitel that our requests could be met. This was OVER 2 MONTHS before the stay.
At check-in, we were given 3 rooms on COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FLOORS. When I asked about our requests, the receptionist said "Sorry, there are no more connecting rooms, guests who checked-in earlier got them" EXCUSE ME? We booked a hotel at the airport because we had an evening flight & it wasnt after-hours. REMINDER: I RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF CONNECTING ROOMS 2 MONTHS IN ADVANCE.
I showed the confirmation email and the receptionist said the message didn't come from the hotel. There was no record of our request.
Well then someone is parading as Sofitel on Expedia and replying to guests because its clearly signed "Sofitel London Gatwick"!
At this point we were all tired (baby, 2 kids, grandparents, and my husband & I). Three separate floors was absolutely not an option. "The best they could do" was two rooms on one floor (opposite sides of the hotel) and one room on a separate floor.
As my son and I tiptoed in our pajamas across the hotel to our second room (our family packed a single suitcase) a woman checked-in to the room ACROSS THE HALL.
I find the entire situation COMPLETELY absurd. A hotel of this size should be able to manage communications and accommodate their loyal guests (we have stayed 3x in 12 months and were offered room upgrades the day before. There were plenty of empty rooms)

Staff and Italian restaurant all very good. Family room perfect size for family of 4, good amenities and clean. Unfortunately the air con does not work, we turned it down to 15 degrees but it stayed at 22/23 degrees all night, all of us had trouble sleeping as the room was so hot and stuffy, consequently we felt dreadful in the morning before our flight. Such a shame this is an ideal hotel for north terminal, but if u can’t sleep it defeats the object of coming down the night before to get a good nights rest ahead of a morning flight

I can only say that this was the most lovely prelude to our holiday. A first class welcome at reception followed by a quality meal in the Italian Restaurant. There were 4 of us & a baby & we were looked after perfectly. My room had a beautiful bed with big squashy pillows & duvet. I have a broken wrist so appreciate the lower floor I was given as manoeuvring with a large plaster cast isn’t easy.

Very disappointed in our stay at the Sofitel on the 29th August. Friends and family have all stayed here and have had an awesome experience ., so I don’t know why ours was so bad.
We were given room 142 and everything looked great until the monorail went past and clear as day heard this every 10 minutes all afternoon, evening and all night. So clearly not all rooms are soundproofed as per the website.
Our bed looked lovely and comfortable until we got in it and it felt like two beds put together that weren’t the same height. Had quilts under the bed sheet and matress protector. Actually felt like a waterbed I turned over and my husband nearly rolled out and then the same to me.
Hotel was very busy because it ‘‘twas the bank holiday weekend when all flights were cancelled so there was no spaces at the bars or restaurants. We weren’t given any proper information or options to dine at the hotel on checkin.
I feel that perhaps we paid for such a good price we were given a crap room. But I know we won’t be staying again.
I’ve never felt so tired after a night at airport hotel before travelling.

It was lovely stay. The room is clean and it is close to the terminal which is the best choice for family with kids.

The staff were top tier and so very helpful. We had some very tired toddlers and they made our check in, bag delivery, check out, etc smooth. I really appreciate their dedication and caring for families. Their restaurant staff were very nice and one of the waitresses was so sweet and played Lego blocks with my son. I didn’t catch her name but it was such a sweet interaction! The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. I loved the rain shower! The free waters were absolutely appreciated and a blessing.

We stayed in family room 281. The bathroom was dirty & beds uncomfortable that we got hardly any sleep before a long flight. The bathroom floor had dirty red dollops of something, I was hoping it was ketchup but I dont know what it was. The surface was dirty with rust marks & the bath was dirty with a huge rust patch actually chipping away the white of the bath where the children would have to sit. The shower pressure was awful. We always book into the premier inn before our holidays but thought we would upgrade to the Sofitel, but I can firmly say it was a huge downgrade & we will not be staying in this hotel again. I didn’t take photos as you can go and see the room with your own eyes, room 281. Needless to say we will not be staying here again. However I would like to hear your feedback as to how you can charge almost £300 for a room in such poor quality.
