The Grand Hotel offers a unique and memorable experience for families. While not a modern hotel, its historical significance and spacious rooms create a special atmosphere. Families will appreciate the beautiful architecture, the wonderful buffet breakfast and lunch, and the stunning views. The hotel also features a swimming pool and a kids' playroom, making it suitable for a multi-generational stay. However, it is worth noting that the location may require extra planning for day trips, and the hotel's popularity as a tourist destination could mean that it's busier than some families might prefer.

I have enjoyed visiting this hotel lobby and restaurants on occasion for the past 40 years. Finally I stayed there, along with family members. Every part of the hotel is beautiful and the rooms were clean.

Staff is awesome. The hotel is gorgeous. Although there is a shuttle into a MRT station, the location of the hotel is very inconvenient so we have to plan accordingly to leave the hotel daily. I would suggest an area where a family can relax, chill, read a book, snacks, etc. The family mart / cafe area are not conducive for relaxation.

I came with my young kids and elderly parents. This hotel has such a rich history, it was an amazing experience. Yes it is not the fancy modern style hotel, but it is incredibly well maintained. The rooms are spacious, the lobby very grandeur with wonderful live piano/violin concert every night (yes, every night). The buffet breakfast/lunch was wonderful. The view outside is so beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

It really is a landmark hotel of Taipei, different than any other five stars you see around the world. If you can afford it and can find availability then you must book a night here. I've had the deluxe room and it was awesome. Pros: the room is huge with very large bed (could accommodate 2 adults + child with space to spare) Bathroom is renovated, has everything expected at this level The huge balcony is the strong point. Absolutely amazing view of the city. Watch out for mosquitoes though 50m outdoor swimming pool available (don't know how that is during winter though) Has a club with children playroom, and a few other activities Minus: TV is way too small compared to room size. I found the procedure to go the pool unnecessarily complicated. You have to go to one office to sign your name then cross the pool to another stand to sign your name again and get a towel. There isn't exactly a feeling of intimacy (if that's what you're looking for). There are huge crowds everywhere you go (this is a strong attraction among local Taiwanese), a lot come just for dinner and taking pictures. This is a very old building that's been renovated, and while it has a lot of history and unique character, it doesn't have that modern high-tech feeling to it (it didn't bother me as I knew what I came for, but maybe some people would expect otherwise)

The Grand Hotel, which is full of historical sense, has experienced many major historical events. It has also received 111 heavyweight heads of state guests, including former US President Dwight Eisenhower, Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, South Korean President Park Chung-hee, Japanese Prime Minister Eisaku Sato, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew! Stepping into the hotel, we can not only deeply feel the gorgeous beauty of the architecture, but also deeply experience the pulse and legend of Taiwan's history! The tour guide of the hotel is also very wonderful, the volunteer shared a lot of interesting and thought-provoking stories to us, very vivid! The food in various restaurants is also very good, . There is a Story of Stamps store, which is also reminiscent of the past and historical figures, I bought several sets of stamps. The accommodation is comfortable and the staff are very friendly. I will bring my family to come in the future. Thank you for the service of the Grand Hotel.

Nostalgia - I grew up by the swimming pool every summer during my childhood. Suggestion: Appreciate some kind words to keep the small kids from running around and screeching - possibility of tripping and hurting themselves, running into displays or other guests.

Its an absolute gem of an hotel. Build in the 50's it resembles a palace more than a hotel from that era. Some things might be a bit outdated, but the food is very good, friendly staff, the iconic buildings in the forrest on a hill is fairy tale like. Some drawbacks are the walking distances, those are partially remedied by carts driving you around (to the pool for example). Its not the best hotel to take young kids to either and the place doubles as a tourist destination (since it is a historical and cultural landmark). Im happy we decided to stay two nights at this place!
