Hotel is in a good location, easy to walk to places. I didn’t like that the shower didn’t have curtains or a door. The bathroom is completely open. If you’re with family or friends it can be awkward.

Our room is a family room. There is only a glass door with the shower base, which is not convenient.

We were a family of 4 and made a mistake when reserving the property and accidentally put 3 vs 4. At the time of check-in, they refused to give us the keys unless we paid 900 Euros more for one more child under 10. They said this was the only option given they were at full capacity.
The staff person at Barcelo Raval in Barcelona named Julia told me that if Expedia would refund then Barcelo would accept. She then let me use your phone to call Expedia and when they spoke to her, she refused the refund and laughed in my face saying, “I will not refund you unless my manager approves”, contradicting her earlier statement.
We then called the Manager and visited in person - he said to e-mail him and they would look into it. It had now been over 2-months and still not word and out 800 Euros.

The area was unsafe. We witnessed two muggings outside the hotel whilst we were there. There was lots of fights in street during the small hours which we could hear on level 7. There really is no pool - that’s deceptive. The water feature which is what it is, is right next to a bar. Why on earth would anyone want to sunbathe there? And I defy anyone to swim in it. It’s too small! That said, the top floor bar was great although they’d let anyone up, which ruined the experience on some nights. Some staff were lovely - particularly the smiley man who’d spot us coming and call the lift for us. Others were a joke. Eg No late checkout because they stated they were full. But for €40 they could make it happen. Very snakey. Dragging off furniture by the cleaners on hard floors first thing in the morning in adjacent rooms. On a night when it rained, the top floor bar was closed. So we tried the ground floor one. Also closed. They opened it with great reluctance and upon serving our drinks, said they were closing in 15 minutes. First night, I was sworn at in English by someone trying to sell me beads outside the hotel when I was trying to eat with my family. Overall, this hotel is simply in the wrong area. I would never recommmend anyone stays in El Raval. It is simply not safe. And I detected an underbelly of rascism by some of the staff - examples mentioned plus I remember my sister having issues with her keycard which took hours to fix and lost us all a day.

The hotel itself was lovely and the staff were welcoming and helpful! The room was clean and tidy although starting to look tired and ready for a refresh, as were the corridors and stairwell! Unfortunately we stayed on the third floor and although the hotel was quiet, the noise we could hear from the street outside wasn’t good! Late into the evening we could hear talking and shouting and an almost constant banging of kids kicking a football against a wall! Later into the night you could hear drunk people heading home! The street was quiet from about 3am-5am before the noise would start again with cars and vans banging doors, goods being delivered and again, the constant loud talking and shouting!
The area surrounding the hotel isn’t fantastic and although we didn’t experience anything overly unpleasant we didn’t feel particularly safe. The central area between the roads outside the hotel wasn’t particularly well lit which added to the unsafe feeling at night and we witnessed multiple men urinating in the street.
None of this is the hotels fault, but the windows of our room let in a lot of noise and we didn’t enjoy travelling to or from the hotel.
Overall it’s a great building in the wrong place and unfortunately because of this we would not chose to stay again!

Beware in this area. My family’s tour guide picked us up from the hotel and mentioned there are a lot of pick pockets in this area of Barcelona. We didn’t think anything about it, since we already knew the reputation of Barcelona. That evening, we were walking down a street parallel to the hotel. A man grabbed my husband’s wrist, and in a flash, cut his watch off and ran with it. The thief cut my husband, as well. I suppose this can happen anywhere, but I would advise any guest to be exceptionally careful in this area of town.

Stayed with my family, hotel was nice but location was terrible. The hotel is located in the most dangerous neighborhood in Barcelona, it's full of crackhouses and junkies on the street. I live in Spain and I did not feel comfortable at all walking around the hotel with my family. Every single taxi told us that our area was dangerous and that we should not walk alone at night.
I understand that it is not the hotel's fault, but I would not stay here again because the neighborhood is terrible. We witnessed street fights (police were quick at the scene) but the crime and dirt in the neighborhood is not worth the price that the hotel charges.
The hotel is otherwise nice.
