The Astoria Palawan would have gotten five stars for welcoming and helping staff, the magnificent night lights all over the resort and for the great bright orange room accents. But I deducted two stars for customers service and a lack of “adult only” relaxing and swimming areas.
I found it bizarre that a resort with a private beach did not serve drinks or food at the beach. I had to go to a bar, order and wait 20 minutes for my drink to be bought over from the restaurant as the bar didn’t have Piña Colada ingredients.
There needs to be a designated “Adults Only” pool.
I was enjoying happy hour and a swim at the Pod from 4pm.
The tranquility was slowly interrupted to the point that I had to leave as there were over 20 (poorly supervised) children jumping into the pool (breaking a pool rule), splashing in my face and so many high pitched squealing voices.
The bikes were not supervised so there was no one to advise the seat on the bike. The bikes were all quite rusty and are in seperate need of a service. Also, regarding the bikes, you can only ride around the resort, which takes about 10 minutes. I wanted to explore outside the resort grounds but was stopped by a security guard.
The resort food is average, except the included buffet breakfast, which has a good variety of different cuisine choices, so eat up at breakfast time.
I highly recommend the Joshua Restaurant, in a triangular building, out side of the resort for amazing food and well priced drinks.

I have booked 4 rooms for 2 couples with kids for 8 nights. unfortunately, 2 rooms provided were below standards. with complaints and reminders, the 2 rooms were upgraded. the booing does not explain the difference between rooms. For room keys, they only provide one key per room and you have to bargain to get the second key.
The hotel does not have several food options which is a must for a remote location hotel type.

I loved everything about our short stay in Astoria Palawan. Genuinely helpful staff and loads of activities for the family to enjoy. Huge room and clean amenities. Great food selection in the buffet for the price. Will come back for a longer stay!

We stayed for 2 days on our way to Puerta Prinsesa. The hotel is ok for a stopover if you are a family with kids. There is a waterpark, but we expected more from it seeing the pictures. In real life it is a bit dated.
Not much food choise and the restaurant can use an upgrade in professionallity. Some food came out when others were already finished. Breakfast is a bit tasteless.
On the beach are sandflies unfortunately.
The staff at the reception are very helpfull and speak good English.

The Astoria group of resorts has been a constant choice of my family. And they always deliver. The staff are all courteous and attentive to the guests’ needs. Our room was spacious, comfortable and complete. Unlike other resorts that offer activities and resort amenities for a fee, in Astoria, all these are free to use for all checked-in guests. From video games, billiards, table tennis in the Game Room to kayak, paddle board, beach volleyball, etc in the beach. Guests can also enjoy a free 1-day pass to the Palawan Waterpark next door. And with that I should also mention a bit of the low-down we experienced, just during check-in. It took us a 2.5hr after checking-in to be given a room. It was quite upsetting to begin the stay but apart from that I’d say my family had a wonderful stay in Astoria Palawan.

Good hotel with excellent service and amazing hospitality. The waterpark right next to the hotel was good for children. The view and the sand pit in front of hotel in the late afternoon when the tide was low were very breathtaking. The restaurant offers good buffet dinner with relaxing live music performance and also entertaining fire performance. On top of all, the services provided by the managers and staffs were amazing , especially during dinner and breakfast time. Will recommend this hotel to friends and families.
