Such a good place to stay, we loved the place! Different vibe, staff is friendly and they made sure we were taken care of. Good food, also close to OXXO if you want to purchase tequila! Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Our family had the best time at Mahekal. It was so beautiful and relaxing. We loved the pools, the beach, and the hammocks. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were great. We hope to be back again soon!

The overall experience was good. This was our second time staying at Mahekal. We loved our first experience here, so we decided to stay again, although I was truly disappointed that the concierge didn’t respect the type of room I reserved thru Hotels.com/Expedia. They decided to give me/put my family in a room that had a lower price point and amenities than what I selected and paid for. I had to speak to them more than twice until they moved us the next day. The premium bungalows (what I originally reserved) are not the same as an ocean view room. Hopefully, next time they do respect my reservation, because it’s indeed a lovely place to stay.

We absolutely loved this beautiful place! We stayed in a bungalow right off the beach and it was just gorgeous and comfortable! It was a super romantic spot for us to enjoy our 9th wedding anniversary. The hammocks and private pool were a fun addition. Didn’t care for it to be right by the public beach area, but it gave us some people watching entertainment! There was also round the clock security so we felt very safe. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Even though we secluded ourselves from the crowds on our beach chairs by our place, a waiter came by regularly to bring us drinks and snacks. The food was delicious and the drinks were top notch. I have already highly recommended this quaint little place to several of our friends and family. We are definitely going to be back again! We travel ALOT and it’s definitely on our top favorite destinations!

The property itself was beautiful and well maintained. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had whatever we needed at all times. I was very disappointed in the food. It was mediocre at best with minimal daily options. Most all inclusive resorts have different areas with food options throughout the whole day and evening and this was not the case. The only other issue would be to highly recommend designating one of the pools as adults only. Although this is not an adult only resort, it would be nice to have one area without having children running around screaming, crying etc while trying to relax next to the pool. Overall, It was a nice vacation, but some areas do need some attention..

We have gone to Cancun as a family every year for 30 plus years. We really like Playa del Carmen and the food and night life off property. This hotel is located in a prime spot at Playa Del Carmen. It could be so much better but it simply didn't live up to our expectations. Before I list off the problems, it is important to note - The staff was EXCELLENT, no issues with the staff at all! They did their best and really worked hard! Listed below are the issues we had: 1. Room - we had a Jungle Palapa room, unfortunately there were lots of bugs - one crawled on my wife's face - didn't know what it was so we slept with the lights on the rest of the stay. 2. Loud music from off the property could be heard late into the night. 3. Beach front - there isn't much beach front space, the pictures on hotels.com website must be outdated. The beach area is much smaller and limited seating. We had to go really early to secure space. 4. Food was mediocre at best. 5. Spa services were not great. 6. The Pools were small and again limited seating. 7. For some reason, beach towels were always limited and unavailable. This property has great potential, but unfortunately it's not a property we will go back to.

We stayed for a week on a beachfront villa with a plunge pool. We had been warned that it’s right outside a public beach and can get loud. For the most part, this wasn’t a big issue for us. There are constantly people outside your beachfront villa, so if you’re looking for a very peaceful experience, I’d book a room inside the resort. They are all beautiful. The plunge pool could have used some updates, as the paint was chipping, but all in all, we loved it. There was constantly security and even though it felt very safe, it was comforting, especially at night. The service everywhere was excellent. A few shout outs to Dulce at the front desk, Alan the incredible, competent and thoughtful concierge, and to Ignacio, who was such a kind and accommodating server. Really, everyone we interacted with was lovely. We traveled with three kids and also their grandma, who has accessibility issues. She needed a scooter and a walker to get around. There are stairs to the dining area and a few other areas, so it’s not completely handicap friendly. We knew that coming in, and it wasn’t a huge issue. All the staff was helpful and accommodating. We came at low season, so it wasn’t busy at the pools. Many times , we had the pools to ourselves. There was a beautiful infinity pool on the other side of the resort that looked out to the ocean and almost always empty. So three pools in all. The kids liked them all. Also, we loved being near shops and restaurants.

This was our first time at Playa Del Carmen and it goes without saying the best choice staying there. The ambiance food amenities, safety and family vibe. There are spectacular places, however there are amazing people and that goes for the entire staff team at the resort. Their professionalism, caring, friendly and absolutely remarkable service all the way around. We’re beyond thankful and blessed with everything/everyone and cannot wait to go back. Special shout-out to host Elizabeth, waiter Enrique. Looking for your visit to be unforgettable, this is the place to stay. Highly recommended!!!

The staff here was terrible. Even if you purchased all inclusive they try to charge you more for certain “premium” items. The staff was not friendly. Not everyone would greet you. The rooms have so many bugs. The staff was extremely slow. We asked for towels and it took an hour. Our dining services took forever. I wonder if you didn’t do the premium all inclusive service you wouldn’t get good service. The location was close to 5th avenue. But nothing inside the resort was cheap. The front desk lady named Dulce is the Karen. Being the greeted by her at check in already ruined our trip. Not kid friendly at all. We’ve stayed in Cancun on several occasions and their definition of “all inclusive” was definitely not a true all inclusive. Waiters were rude when we ordered food. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

We had a phenomenal time at the Mahekal. The staff are top notch and treat everyone as though they’re VIP’s. Pedro was our waiter for breakfast each day (we requested him). He sets the benchmark really high for what outstanding service looks like! Ceaser, who works at the ice cream bar was also terrific! The only negative was our first night. Our room was on the border of the street, which was really loud as it was so close to the bar / restaurant (off property). Hotel staff were awesome and moved us to another room, the following day. The Mahekal was the perfect place to enjoy a long overdue family vacation. We didn’t want to leave!! Wish I could remember every staff member’s name, as they all deserve kudos for enhancing our stay.
