Meeru Island Resort & Spa

Just WOW!! Our whole stay was perfect, such friendly staff the island is lovely and green, we stayed in a beach villa right on the beach it was adults only section and the restaurant we had our meals was adults only as well. Meals were all excellent, plenty of choice and cooked perfectly. We were all inclusive as the drinks can add up $12.50 for mocktail and around $15/$16 for a cocktail. Mini bar in room for All Inc refilled everyday. On the all Inc we got the chance to play golf, 1 sun set cruise which was amazing we saw dolphins and amazing sun set. Canoes are also free to use. The speed boat to island took about 50 min which have you the chance to pass other islands so a nice boat ride. The sea is just like the brochures turquoise blue, we took our own snorkel set and beach shoes the snorkel is very expensive to hire per day and beach shoes recommended as lots of coral, but on the beach you can go bare footed, in facr they encourage it even in restaurant low key relaxed sand on the floor so you can walk around with no shoes if you want, it was a perfect place to relax and un wind. Those with families have their own section and restaurant and pool, the adults only pool had an infinity pool didn’t use much as the sea was so tempting. We saw a manta Ray, turtle and reef shark and lots of different types of fish. We would highly recommend visiting Meeru you won’t be disappointed. Booking through Expedia was easy and communication was excellent.

Meeru is a great resort and I will definitely recommend it to family and friends. We were spending 5 nights with my wife for our honeymoon and the staff and members are amazing. Positive: The food is delicious, and they have different themes on dinner nights Unfortunately I could not try the Mexican but the others were delicious, always with a lot of variety and options. The water villas are awesome, you never know who is going to be your neighbor during the night it can be a turtle, baby nurse sharks (maybe bigger), or a stingray. The installations are in great condition, you can easily walk through the island but also you can call a "buggy" if you want them to take you to a specific place. Negative: We felt, the prices of activities out of the "ALL INCLUDED PLAN" are quite expensive, I am grateful to EXPEDIA for the discount and credit they gave us, I had discounts on excursions and $100 credit on beverages and food. My wife and I were very grateful and we will definitely keep be loyal customers to EXPEDIA. The gift shop also has expensive prices. The resort has 3 restaurants and the best one is "Hot Rock" our dinner was delicious. We also tried the "Asian Wok" but unfortunately we do not have positive comments to say about this experience, sorry but I will not recommend this restaurant. In general, Meeru was an excellent resort for our honeymoon, we were extremely happy with the staff in the restaurants and the ones in the excursions because they were always taking care us

We knew as soon as we got off the speedboat that Meeru was something special. The staff are always polite and were on top of things. Special thanks to Azidh! He is an awesome waiter and always took care of us with a smile. The water is beautiful. We actually preferred the beach on the children's pool side despite staying in an over the water villa on the adult side. A highlight for me was the bioluminescent plankton that glows like xmas lights. Ask the staff which side of the island is the best for this because it changes. Good diving with EuroDivers. Andrea and his crew run a tight ship. My wife enjoyed the spa and we both enjoyed the food.

Meeru is very well run resort. Transport from Male takes an hour boat ride, which will be arranged close to your arrival time, no waiting. Welcome is lovely at the resort with Maldivian drums. Check in was easy and we got our room straight away even we arrived much earlier at least 4 hours The island has plenty of restaurants. We booked beach villa with jacuzzi, nice size with comfy bed and out door shower. We were on full board, the food was fantastic and lots to chose from and usually every day they had a different cuisine on show case. We were assigned to one of the 18 restaurant only for our full board meals, but we could visit the others if we wanted to too for extra cost. We have opted for my Birthday a candle light dinner on the beach next to infinity pool (Hot Rock restaurant) it was a fabulous experience with exceptional food and service. This island is one of the biggest on Maldives, but it never felt crowded. When we snorkeld around the resort, we saw turtles, octopus, rays, puffer fish, sharks. Part of the reef looked absolutely pristine, but large part was effected by climate change. They arrange 3 times a day house reef snorkel trips (15 minuets boat ride) every day for free. Plenty of excursions and ground activities to keep guest entertained. Meeru is lovely place to visit, we will return. These place is prefect for couples only and families as well.

There is nothing bad that I can say about this resort. Each and every individual went above and beyond to make our stay absolutely perfect. I would recommend Meeru Island Resort to anyone. My wife and I will be back, and we will bring our child too.

Awesome location of rooms, calm and quiet , away from the crowd. We booked an Over Water Jacuzzi Villa ( P.S not for people who are weak sleepers as the gushing waves hitting the stilts can keep you awake all night ) Property is nicely maintained, coral reefs are beautiful, swimming pools are clean, restaurants have good food quality. Sports activities are sufficient, Bars are strategically placed at places where you have endless views of the sunset. There are bicycles available which makes travelling easy for the aged and children. All the restaurant staff is very courteous and make sure they serve you the best always. Housekeeping department needs a little push and then they work upto your expectation ( One big negative of the housekeeping deptt is that they throw all the dust and dirt accumulated from cleaning the respective rooms into the water flowing under the water villas which made me very angry. There is loads of marine life down there which gets affected. I hope the management can keep a check on this major drawback ) Another drawback which affected us acutely is that the sunlounger mattresses, bar chair cushions, villa deck lounger cushions etc. are not laminated and have no protection from water. In case of rain, they get drenched in water and thus, you cannot sit on them. I feel it can be handled if a thin lamination work is possible on the cushions and mattresses. All in All,great holiday and we would love to go back to Meeru.

Being an avid snorkeler with my kid (who is 11+), there is no in-house reef at the island. The so called in-house reef is a 15 minute boat ride from the hotel. Kids below 12 are not allowed for the snorkeling trip or other paid excursions. This wasn't informed to us at the time of booking. It should be mandatory that information regarding this is posted very clearly on all the web-sites. After much persuasion, we were allowed to go for snorkeling trip with the kid & other excursion trips. We had booked a Beach Villa (good location). The welcome was not good. The hotel had double booked the room and the beach villa was not available. The hotel decided to upgrade us to Beach Jacuzzi Villa, the location is pathetic. Only after I asked for the full refund and threatened to cancel my bookings, the front office manager, Mr Adam came and met us and apologized for the fiasco. He was kind and got the room ready for use in an hour & offered us refreshments and dinner on the house. A special word of thanks to Adhil, our wonderful waiter, Zaid (responsible for excursions) & Chef Han for making the trip memorable after a terrible start. Its better to All In rather than Full Board, because complimentary water is not given by the hotel, no gym use, no cycles, etc. Basically everything is charged for. Have to specially mention the brilliant service and cleanliness and the excellent food.
