Beautiful place to stay, we loved everything, definitely recommend, besides all the rooms are like small machiyas which is lovely. Breakfast is great, traditional japanese. We went as a family of four with two small children.

This is the second time my family and I check in to Kanra Hotel Kyoto across a period of 8 years and it has never disappointed us. We love that the hotel is situated at a slightly quiet area but very accessible by local subway and bus. The hotel rooms are very nicely decorated and it gives you a sense of zen and calm after a long day as soon as you return to the hotel.

I cannot recommend this place for more. The staff were amazing and so helpful. I’ve never been to a nicer hotel, this place had amazing accommodations and beautiful aesthetics. The check in process was so personable and they’d ask you what you were here for and helped you find the easiest route to get to those locations. I came with a group of 10 and we all got different kind of rooms and we’re all blown away by the quality of the room as well as the amenities. I even went shopping in the hotel lobby and found amazing gifts to take back home to friends and family. They even held all luggage for us after our check out so we continue some sightseeing activities before we left for the day.

My family of 4 absolutely loved staying at this hotel. The room was spacious, relaxing, and full of nice touches like ambient lighting and a wooden bathtub. The included breakfast and ambience of the dining area was amazing - especially if you like Japanese style breakfast. We also did a free Japanese calligraphy class that was fun and informative. The staff was super friendly overall as well!

We are a family of four travelling from Canada (2 adults & 2 teens). We booked a Twin Room in the Annex Building for 5 nights with 2 queen beds. The hotel staff were amazing from start to finish. We enjoyed traditional Japanese facials in the spa & we eat in the restaurant for breakfast and thought there was a great mix options. We would definitely come back.

This is by far one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at and was much better than the five star hotels in Tokyo. The staff is amazing. They had ice tea and cool towel when we arrived on a hot day. Check in was easy. The room is gorgeous and spacious. I loved the ambiance, decorations, and thoughtful touches. They had a small robe for my daughter and a baby toothbrush all ready. They had tea and small treats in the room. The extra living space was very nice especially compared to the small rooms in Tokyo. The shower and wooden bathtub are amazing and relaxing. The breakfast is so great with a ton of options (both traditional Japanese and American/European options). They had child seat and plastic plates/utensils for my 2 yo daughter. It’s located a ten minute walk from Kyoto station and right next to a beautiful Buddhist temple. Overall one of my best travel experiences in general and looking forward to going back. I didn’t try the spa services but hoping to in the future.

This was our family's second visit at Kanra, it's just so beautiful. The level of detail is aww inspiring. The location is great, an 8 minute walk from the main Kyoto train station where you walk by a massive temple. And there's a subway entrance 100 feet from the hotel. I also recommend getting the Japanese breakfast here. Each dish has so much care and flavor to it, even the bowls are made in a way to better present its contents. The rooms are of course amazing as well, with their wooden tubs and tatami mat living space. Only issue is the decision of should I stay in the room all day or go outside and enjoy the rest of Kyoto! Love this place!
